Just picked up at set of TRMotorsport C1's in a 15 x 7.5 and they are 13.2 lbs. They are a nice upgrade over my bent challenge wheels.

I think we're going to be seeing a lot of C1Ms. They're affordable, decent looking and legal for Spec :) The fact that a 7.5" is available is a plus. There's an 8" as well, but only in a major offset - something like +5.
I've heard that Tire Rack is planning a 15x8" in another brand, but I don't know when we'll see that. It took about 8 months for the first C1s to show up after I'd been sent a CAD rendering.

Ok, it's tomorrow, where are the pictures?
Damn, that makes me want to get an NB (And I'm guessing I'll need an LSx transplant to truely make those wheels useful).
My Miata is faster than that one!
Ok, by faster, I actually mean slower. Alot slower. I mean not able to move at the moment, slower.
Joey
Right at this moment, any Miata that is self-propelled is faster than that one. So I'd call it a dead heat with Joey's. However, once we get the new lifters in and bolt the heads back on, that will hopefully change. I'm expecting it to come to the FM track day in three hours, I'll get pictures then. And video.
I brought that car home one night (had to put some miles on to break in the ring and pinion) and my wife saw it in the garage. She fired it up and just started laughing like a loon. "I want a Miata just like this one", she said. Same color, same wheels, same seats (factory leather with some careful foam shaping and an alcantara insert in the center for butt traction) and the same drivetrain. Yes dear, I'll build you that as soon as I'm done putting the LS1 in your MG...
The guy who bought my old Miata is planning to make a Lotus Elan-inspired car out of it. It might end up with two-tone paint inspired by an Elan Sprint or possibly a dark silver lower half inspired by a Muira. It's not going to be done with big expensive body parts, but little detail tweaks like the right wheels and steering wheel. He's been fine-tuning the vision for the last few years, I think it'll work out well when he starts work.
sniff sniff sniff, I miss my miata....gotta hurry up and pay everything off so I can start saving to grab another.

Hmmmm.......
As promised, here are the big wheels on Elvis. 17x7.5" Rota RBs with 235/45-17 R888s. A bit of an odd tire size - usually we'd go with a 235/40-17. But we're going to get some 17x8.5" for the rear soon and they'll wear a 255/45-17, so we needed to match the diameter.

I've been thinking about mounting some tires on my VW BBS RA basketweaves for my 96 Miata. I think they have enough offset, but I haven't measured them. I'd need new lugs too, as the stock miata ones don't fit down the holes in the wheel with a socket on them.

Bolting on the VW may cause other issues as well with center bore size.
Reference:
http://www.adaptitusa.com/referencebook.htm
On the Miatas the center bore is 67.1
If you BBS rims came stock on a VW they are likely a 57.1 center bore. You would have the have the holes machined out to make them larger.
It is an easy test. Just jack up the Miata and try to bolt on one of the BBS rims. Be sure to see that the BBS's fit on both the front axel as well as the rear (due to different brake sizes.)
I read my own reference data wrong, ha
Thanks for straightening me out.
By the way, Elvis looks amazing and amazingly menicing!
Such a sleeper.
Is the power just unreal or can it be harnessed properly?
While we see an article in GRM? I think we should.
I saw the pics, "and I jizzed in my pants."
The wife saw the video of it on the track, and said to me "now, that's what a Miata should sound like.
Wasn't entirely turned off by the price of the conversion either. At least, she liked it more than the Westfield idea.
We'll have video of it at Laguna in a couple of weeks. It is useable power, but you have to decide when you want to use it. I'm not the sort of guy that lights up the tires on purpose (I'm too cheap for that) or that chirps second, but even on the autocross course it was easy to toss around and deal with the torque. Look at it this way - you can make use of all available traction at any time
One of our customers asked if he could just pin the throttle and steer like he does with his stock 1.6 Miata. Umm, no.
As for the article in GRM - talk to David We won't have Elvis at the Mitty, but I think one of the customer cars currently under construction will be. It has a cammed LS3, making about 480 hp I am really happy with how Elvis is coming together - the wheels look good on the car. It's got that "little car shrinkwrapped over a huge drivetrain" look to it, even though the body of the car isn't modified one bit other than a bit of fender rolling.
Keith-
If you don't mind me asking, what's your best guess as to the amount of money it would take to replicate Elvis? (Assuming use of the FM kit, average deals on all used parts, and me doing all the work)?
The big question is going to be how many parts you get new and how many used. It also depends on if you go with our current engine spec (cam, rocker arms, heads, valve springs) or stock. My $4500 Camaro would be able to provide many of these components, but you're still going to need random cooling hoses, exhaust parts, intake parts and the like. Cost will depend on your level of creativity there, and I know there are a couple of places we could have saved a few bucks on our first build. An 8.8 instead of the Getrag would be a place to start, as would some of the accessory pulley choices. We're working on a full list of part numbers for every little doodad needed to finish one.
Big round numbers in no particular order and no guarantee of accuracy:
Total: $20,800. What's an Elise go for these days?
Keep in mind that some of this stuff was done to show off what we can do. But man, it's a sweet car.
I think these wheels are just about perfect for an NA Miata but I'm not sure who makes them. They'd make a tasty replacement for the 16" Kosei K1s that I have right now.
Thanks, Keith. $20k was the humber I'd had in my head, anyways. And what else can you buy for $20k that will match it in looks or performance? Not much (although I have seen a couple of E46 M3s for 20k recently).

american racing silverstones in a 0mm offset? I think they might be a 15X8 but I'm probably wrong.

I don't think so. These wheels look to be double drilled for two different fitments while the Silverstones only seem to come with one set of holes in them.
