I know I will be ridiculed, but I keep thinking about this little wagon. I know the 82 BMW 323i I found would be a much better/faster,cooler car,but I am none of those things. Why is it I want a lousy Subie wagon over the ultimate driving machine?

Probably a similar reason why I picked up a 1st gen mazda mpv instead of a likely better Astro van or some other truck or SUV.

Aside from meeting my basic needs, Its pretty much a mediocre oddball vehicle that you nearly never see anymore.

When you get your Colorado driver's license, you are required to choose between a Subaru wagon or a Toyota truck.

I loved my 87, it was full of character and the perfect size. Slow as molasses, but immune to speeding tickets. I'd use WOT as my cruise control on the interstate. Climbing the Colorado passes, I'd do well to keep up with the semis. It took me years to think of Denver as being 3.5 hours away instead of 5.5. Rebuilding the carb was a bit frightening, that was a LOT of vacuum lines.

I slept in the back at 10,000' and sub-zero temperatures. I took it into the Moab desert to get to my favorite campgrounds. I explored old mines in the mountains. Mine didn't have low range, which wasn't much of a problem but it would have helped once or twice.

If you rust belt folks want one, they're all in Colorado.

All hail the brave Scooby.
