Anybody have any dealings with flat slide bike carbs?

There's a classic Volvo guy selling them as a replacement for SU's, and he lists that his have been "prepared" for automotive use. If I was to grow a wild hair and happen to pick up a pair of Mikunis on the used market, what tweaks would they need before they would be a suitable replacement for the Strombergs in the Triumph? I assume there's float adjustments for pressurized vs. gravity feed, but after that I assume you would tune them per Mikuni's guidelines and ignore the fact that they're on a Triumph car and not a Harley motorbike.

Context: Just looking for bolt-ons for the 2000; I'm probably going to add a header and new exhaust as the current exhaust is almost comical . . . looks like 1.5" OD at best. Looking for something on the induction side that isn't 3 Webers, as I don't like the idea of buying or tuning a set (So. Many. $$$$.) and I'd like to run something different.

Good Parts has something you might like. http://www.goodparts.com/shop/index.php?categoryID=2 I put one of those on my brother's '74 TR6 several years ago and it's really a nicely done piece.

Or maybe PRI Race. http://prirace.com/TR6-keihin-carb-kits.asp

Sudco or carb warehouse are your friends for parts.

Float heights are the same for pressure or gravity you change the float needle and seat to do the swap. My mind escapes me but think 1.5 is gravity and 3.0 is for a pump but it might be other way.

What carb did you pick up? RS flat slides? sold a set a few winters ago to a kid who was putting them on a Honda civic. he said there was a web site with all the jetting sorted out.

vintage performance parts Came across these guys while thinking about them for the TR4. One of the comments is about adding emulsion tubes for the cars...

I am 99% sure this is the "classic Volvo guy" he was talking about. I've heard about these, but haven't seen any in person. So far, most guys in the Spitfire world I've met who want to simplify their Z-S set-ups either swap to SU's or go Megasquirt.

Personally, I haven't had any problems with the twin Z-S carbs on the GT6 engines I've had and currently own.
