I am looking for a good used rwd wide block Mitsu 2.6. Used engines are hard to find, rebuilt engines are pricey and to rebuild mine (bottom end noise) is very expensive. The engine will be going on into my son's 89 Ram50.

Ahh, the culmination of your 2.6 posts.. broken 2.6
Hopefully the 2.0 in my mitsu truck is runnable.. need to fix carb and find out
no leads on working engine, sorry.
Definitely a bottom end issue. Local engine builder wants up to $2400. Various remanufacturers have them in the $1500 - 2000 range. No good used engines near me.
I built a Dolvo (Vodge?)for a buddy of mine. His was an automatic, an Aisan Warner 71. That happens to be the same trans used in rear drive Volvos, so I put the bell housing from a Volvo trans onto the body of the Mitsu trans, and bolted a B21A in front of it. The only fabrication was plates to mount the 240 volvo engine mount stands. Stock D50 rad was the right shape, and a small connector pipe to join the front half of the Volvo downpipe to the stock exhaust was easy.
B21A is single SU carb-Canadian market. It would be a bit more wiring and plumbing to install an EFI model, but still would be pretty easy, and you'd wind up with a better running thing. I'd use 88 or older- the wiring is easier to separate out of the harness than the newer ones.
Standard trans you are on your own.
Can't find Starions around here either. This is NE PA we are talking about. Foreign cars are scarce. I bought a 96 Outback in 1999 from a local Chevy dealer for $3,000 under the Kelly private seller price because no one was interested. It was sitting on the lot for months in mint condition. My wife put many miles on that car.
