So my two closest dealer parts departments can't help. 1st place "Oh that was built in Japan, we can only get parts for US built vehicles", 2nd place "Can't get parts for those anymore".

I'm looking to get some OEM parts for an 88 Starion as well as build a connection with a parts guy for future needs. Does anyone here work for or know of any parts departments that are still of some help on these cars?

The Mitsu dealer network has pretty much left the building from what I understand.

Dumb question, but have you tried a Dodge dealer? I wouldn't think there'd have a better selection, but you never know...

I work in a Mitsubishi parts department. Unfortunately the official Mitsubishi catalog no longer has a listing for the Starion (I know, it's rediculous).

If you can get the part numbers I may be able to still order them but I have no way of looking up the parts. The only thing I can think of is to call a Chrysler dealer and see if they have a listing for the Conquest.

In reply to EvanB:

I do have part have the whole parts catalog for an 89 on the home computer.

I'm certain that the parts I'm looking for interchange with other Mitsus of that generation so I would think I'd have no issue getting what I need?

I can always try a Chrysler parts dept & see how that goes.

If you have the part numbers you need you can send me a PM and I'll check availability for you.

For OEM mitsu parts you might want to try jnztuning.com -- The guy who started that shop used to be the parts dept manager at Conicelli Mitsubishi before they went out of business. He bought all their old stock and has been supporting the DSM community with parts discounts for over a decade. Give them a call, he can at least give you an accurate answer.

EvanB,

I"ll check those part numbers when I get home. Are you able to cross reference non-Mitsubishi part numbers i.e; GP Sorenson/Federal Mogul?

Nope, our system doesn't like that.

Check with John Ruggles at Burlington Mitsubishi in Vermont. If you gots a number he can get it. Or it doesn't exist. Most incredible parts manager I've ever met. Though he may make fun of your vehicle selection.

Tell him "Sonic" recommended him and he'll know to take care of you.

How dare they stop stocking parts for a 13 year old car that sold in (relatively) tiny numbers.

My experience is that Nissan/Datsun backs their cars, even the older ones fairly well. Honda/Acura? If they have the part, it will come from Japan and will cost an arm and a leg. Don't know about Toyota. Mitsubishi....Japan's answer to AMC?

Toyota is pretty good about it for the most part. There's an engine mount or two i can't get for my 20 year old car, but i'm not entire sure they were ever available, they weren't considered a replaceable part.

This Starion is 23 years old, btw.

Mazda is actually really good with backing older cars. Ford.... not so much.
