I am going to the Mitty on Friday afternoon. While I am very familiar with the area (race across the street at Lanier Speedway), though I have never been to Road Atlanta. Couple of questions: can I drive and park my pick up inside the facility or do you have to park outside? If so, is there an extra charge? Are there any areas that you can park trackside? If so, which do you prefer? Can you bring in your own food and beverages? An answer to these questions, or any other advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Kevin Shaw

There is outside parking, but if you're going to be there all weekend, just buy whatever they call it that allows you to go inside the complex, where there is TONS of space. And if you want good picture taking, set up near the Esses or by the bridge. I've gotten the most amazing shots from inside the track in those spots.

Have fun, I wish I could go.

Infield parking is $10 on top of whatever ticket you buy (unless it's a weekend super ticket which includes parking.) The Mitty is very spectator friendly, and there's usually plenty of places to watch right from your car, or just a few steps from your car. As for food and beverages, you shouldn't have much trouble getting stuff in.

Stop by the GRM tent at the top of the hill and say hi sometime.

Kevin - talk to me about racing at Lanier. I do a lot of autocrossing, but I've always thought that when the time comes to bump fenders, I'm a lot more likely to take a right into Lanier than a left into Road Atlanta.

Don't forget, you can also get great shots in the paddock. Bring your short lens, too.

The event is in Georgia. This doesn't help.

Hi Dave, Racing at Lanier is as fun as fun gets. The downside is , it's expensive! Need to have top grade equipment and be prepared to buy at least 2 tires per race to stay competetive. The track management, over the years, has failed to realize the cost it takes to race and it is reflecting in the car counts lately. I am in the RaceDaySafety.com SuperTruck, stop by and say hello if you are ever at the track. Kevin
