That was fun, and thanks again, everyone, for joining our party.
David Hobbs was definitely the life of the party and seemed eager to chat, sign an autograph, dance, etc.
We have some photos online, and I expect those galleries will grow a bit: http://classicmotorsports.net/news/2013-mitty-recap/
The MG Metro 6R4 Group B rally car won the PRS guitar.

I went for a ride, and it's a beast. I think we spun the tires nearly every time it was given gas.
And yes, we're going to feature it in a future issue. Yes, box flares do many everything cooler.
I would love a ride in that... I always miss out on these things. I need to pay more attention.
I was at racing at BMW's Octoberfest at Mid-Ohio and they had Joey Hand giving rides for charity in a PTG V8 M3 or CSL Batmobile during the DE sessions. It was something like $120. I am old friends with the guy who runs BMW Motorsports NA so I figured I could get a few hot laps with a real pro and pick his brain right before qualifying but they were so booked up the ONLY time I could slot in was when we would be expected to be gridding for my race. DOH.
I did get to chat with Joey and sit in the original CSL Batmobile but I'm still batting zilch on celebrity tours in hallmark cars. I came in 24th... should have skipped the race.
I have been lucky to drive a few cars in the Lane collection. A spin in their 911SC convinced me that I needed one. A while ago I got to go for a ride in their Davis roadster. That's a neat ride. David, the museum's manager, is a great guy and true friend of the magazine. Plus he sees the true beauty in a rusty BMW 2002.
We've added a few photos to the slideshow, including one of Bill Cardell, owner and founder of Flyin' Miata. (Bill's a cool dude.)
I bumped this because I got special permission.
My girlfriend and I are sort of working on plans to eventually visit all the states, and the Mitty was the impetus to start a spreadsheet of events across the country to try to catch...
That just looks like a lot of fun.
Obviously the Mitty is a GREAT excuse to hit Road Atlanta, but use any excuse you can. It is the greatest track I've been to.
Yeah, Mike's right, Road Atlanta is pretty darn cool. Plus the people there are cool, too.
...and assuming I'm not driving, the Mitty is the best event held there, IMHO. All the fun of petit without the crowds. GRM knows how to throw a party. Wish I could've enjoyed the whole event this year. Onecof these days....
Saturday night was a blast, as we had a really good band.
So, anyone else enjoy/notice the lamps that they had on stage? I gotta text from them that afternoon: Crap, we forgot our stage lights.
So they made a stop at Goodwill. Those lamps didn't fit back in their van, so now they're in our building. We'll bring them to the UTCC for their follow-up show.
Funnay. I assumed they just traveled with the lamps. I bet they'll
start! Their bassist was clutch!
The lamps still had the Goodwill "as is" stickers on them. Hey, they're grassroots.
The whole band was neat. We hung out until about 2:30 in the hotel lobby.
We hung out till a whole lot later than that in your tent, and actually booted some other guys in the interest of not having property damage blamed on the hongs. ;)
Thanks for minding the store after I left.

Hongs, Mongo, historic race cars, Road Atlanta and bacon doughnuts.
What could make this better

Autocrossing and showing off for Kumho girls

Parade laps in a "Shelby"

Even a running Stag, is nothing out of reach of the Mitty?
