I am changing out the transmission on my 81 Trans Am. The old transmission had a 10-spline input shaft, the new Richmond has 26 splines. The car has a virtually brand-new Luk 11 inch clutch with a 10-spline disc (most likely part #04-021).
Unfortunately LUK doesn't appear to sell parts, only clutch kits. I can buy a Sachs 26-spline 11 inch disc (sold by NAPA as ND4148) for $45, a new clutch kit goes for $120+. Will I run into any problem replacing just the disc?
I'm also not too happy with the plastic throw-out bearing from the LUK kit. I can probably find a metal one for under $20 locally. Those are interchangable too, right?

should not be an issue but look in those old yellow pages under trucks for "clutch and brake" places they offten will sell you a disk cheaper then parts stores and better quality sprung hub.

Will the pressure plate fit over the disk?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Nope.
I usually only replace the disk, and I've run 215mm Mazda disks with 225mm flywheel/pressure plates in a pinch. Worked just fine.

81 trans am? fix it with an REO Speedwagon sleeveless t-shirt.
REO Speedwagon? I don't think so.
Somewhere I have (had?) a Joy Division shirt. Not that "Unknown Pleasures" shirt they sell at Hot Topic but a real "Love Will Tear Us Apart" shirt from back in the day.
That's probably what I would be listening to if I was stranded in 1981, along with some Throbbing Gristle, Caberet Voltaire, Bauhaus and Kraftwerk.
