Bought a 2001 Jetta VR6 with a blown trans. The diff pin walked out and damaged the housing. Got a used one coming from a junk yard and was wondering what I could do to stop the pin from falling out of this one? Or just stop being cheap and buy a LSD?
Jeez, they still do that? My friggin' Rabbit GTI fragged one or more transmissions that way.
If I had the trans out at minimum I'd stake the pin/diff housing juncture wicked hard in several places. Ideally though - get a LSD while it's out.
Had that happen on my ZX2SR. The transmission shop guy said he had fixed many cases with JBWeld. I took it to the shop because I do not have the facility to pu;; a transmission. The problem is that the pin is held inplace with a roll pin, pretty weak.
