I like following cars and pricing. As a long time multiple MKIV owner, I was obviously interested when the new Supra was introduced in 2020. The launch edition came out in the mid-$50s for those that didn't pay market adjusted pricing. Then the 2021 came out with lots more power so i figured the 20s would tank in value. I believe some dealers were trying to dump their leftover 20s for mid-$40s then. But, looking for used 20 or 21 models, they all seem to be $50k and above. It doesn't make sense to me. Is it just the nutty car market right now or am I missing something?

Have you not turned the news on in the last 2 months? Used car market has seen historic appreciation in the last 15 months. Last week Toyota announced they're slashing new car production by a further 40% due to a chip shortage. There won't be a significant number of new cars on the ground until 2022

Google isn't difficult to use.
A BMW wrapped in a Toyota, rather have it the other way around honestly. I was hoping these would bottom out so I can grab one cheap and put a real motor in it.

Even though I'm skeptical, everything I've read says the B58 is a dramatically stronger and more reliable engine than the N54/N55s that preceded it.
Although I have also read lots of issues with oil consumption in the '21 Supra's, bot not the Z4's. So I'm not sure if it's an engine or owner issue.
