Ordinarily, you couldn't get me into Walmart at gunpoint, but after striking out at Napa, Advance Auto and Auto Zone when I went shopping for nine quarts of 0W-40 Mobil-1, I figured I'd give it a shot. Not only did they have what I was looking for, all of their five quart jugs of Mobil-1 are on sale for $22.47. That is a screaming deal.
Bought some 5w30 for the Dakota today... Used to be 27-ish for those 5 qts a few months ago. One of the reasons I went to G-Oil until it became NLA.

I am an ExxonMobil shareholder. Not in any appreciable quantity, mind you.
There are a lot of reasons I don't care for Wal*Mart, and I avoid it whenever feasible.
OTOH, oil companies make enough profits. My shares are doing fine.
So if Wally can stick it to XOM and shave a few bucks off a 5-quart jug, I'm all for it.
I use the M1EP in my Scion, and I change it every 10k. It really doesn't use any oil. The economics of a $25 jug of oil and a $6 filter once every 10k is just cheaper than two $13 jugs of oil and two $6 filters.
As much as I hate to use Walmart I do get my oil there. And oddly they seem to have the rarer blends like the 0W-40 and 20W-50. Go figure.
I get my Mobil 1 synth 0W20 at Wally World.
I use Rotella T full synthetic (blue jug) in my Excursion and BMW.
After going to every autoparts store in town and finding they only carry non-synthetic, or if they did carry it they had one or two jugs at most, I went to Walmart. Not only did they have a whole shelf full of the right stuff, but it was $4-$8 cheaper per jug. I'm no fan of Wal-mart, but I can tell you where I am going the next time I need Rotella.
I get my oil almost exclusively through Walmart and amazon.com. I picked up 6 qts of non-synthetic oil at the local auto parts store and was astounded at the cost. Back to Walmart next time!
I go to walmart for two things, ammo and oil.
I always buy my Rotella T, T5, or T6 (depending on which car it's going in) at Wally World. By far the best price, and it's always in stock. I think T6 full-synthetic is $19 right now at our local WM, for the big jug.
Plus as mentioned above, they carry a lot of heavier weights like 20W-50...probably because the truckers buy their oil there :)

Wal Mart always has the best deals on oil, but the availability of certain grades (like M1 0W40) depends on where you live and can even vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. I normally go to the "ghetto" WM and they rarely have 0W40 in quart jugs and never in the 4 or 5 qt jugs.
Fortunately, I've yet to find a WM that doesn't carry Rotella T6. Their filter stock has improved a lot too lately. The last time I was there they had Motorcraft and Purolator as well.
Some WMs even have really nice tire mounting equipment, should you need a race tire mounted at 7PM on a Saturday... (with tape weights)
Walmart is my goto place for oil.

Mostly E36 M3ty FRAM's around here. Went to buy the 5281090 Mopar Filter for my Dakota there and didn't even pick it up when I saw the price was $6.97. Napa gladly sold me a Napa Gold/WIX one for 3.50. Hell the dealer sells them OTC for under $6 still....
If your WM doesn't have Rotella, Tractor Supply sometimes does.

In reply to Ranger50:
I've actually found that NAPA has my Rotella T6 and the good Wix for nearly the same price as WM. The hassle of course is that the NAPAs around here aren't open late.
Is there a limit on the amount. I could use a tons on 10w30.
Also 1000 12 gauge target shells
It is very interesting where they send certain weights at Wal Mart. They were sold out of M1 0w-20 at the local one here in Fairfax. On my recent trip down to Miami I stopped at like 5-6 different Wal Marts in NC, SC, GA, and Central Florida and none of them had it. Get to the sketchiest Wal Mart in the world in Homestead, Fl with at least 4 on duty LEOs there and I find 0w-20 for the Si and Rotella T6 for the scooby both on sale. I stocked up a bit too. Even 5w-20 is hard to find in certain areas as well.
I get 3% cash back when shopping at wal-mart so I do try to pick some supplies up every now and then there as that's a better rate than any of my checking, savings, or CDs provide me lol.

Add me to the list. I was shocked at how much cheaper Mobil 1 was at Wally World. The real shocker to me was the $5 I paid for a honest to goodness Toyota oil filter from the dealer. So I was under $30 for a full synthetic oil change with a factory filter.
Screw you haters. I love Wal-Mart. I've been buying my oil there for years because it's much cheaper.
I just don't get the wal-mart hate. They have the products I want, at the best price and usually have inventory when no one else does. I can get in and out and take care of 90% of my shopping needs at once. Why is that such a bad thing?

It's not a bad thing, so long as you're not a buy American/ local fanboi.

I won't flounder this thread, but go do some research on Wal-Mart's low wages and it's effect on the local population who receive public assistance. We all end up paying for the low prices in other ways.

Motor oil has been one of the few reasons I've been to my local WM over the last several years.
My aversion to shopping there is mainly down to the location of my local unit (sucks to get in and out), their legendary inability to have enough of the 100 or so checkout lanes (only a slight exaggeration) open for the number of folks in the store, the fact that it's usually not so clean, and the "people of Wal Mart".
Many of these same issues can be found in most of the stores I've visited.

I worked for WalMart in college. Their wages are no lower than anyone else playing the big-box game.
The only hate greater than WM hate on this board is the GM hate..... sad.
Man, I avoid Wal-Mart like the plague (I hate grumpy employees, bad customer service, messy stores, and only 2 registers open with a line of customers at both), but I might have to suck it up for the cheap oil. I don't run synthetic, but if their synthetic prices are this good then the regular stuff is probably cheap too. On the other hand, I always get coupons from Advance, and they usually have a $19 or $21 deal for a 5 qt jug of Valvoline or Castrol with a filter. Plus they're around the corner and I'm smack in the middle of all the closest Wally Worlds, so they're all further away. If only Target would start a bigger automotive section...

I'd much rather have a GM than go to Wal-Mart...and I hate GM.
