Yellow TR7 looks fantastic! Are those the wheels that came in the kit?

I went with the windshield and gave it a starburst chip and a nasty crack. Then I glued in the interior and the chassis, attached the bumpers, and installed the blower.
Meanwhile the backside of the wheels have been painted black and I dechromed the front wheels. I also painted the taillights transparent red. All that's left is to glue those parts on and the zoomies.
Once it's all together I'll do a weathering with sponges and brushes.
Much better! Onto the touch ups...
Anybody ever do anything with the moulded in headlights on these old kits? Considering drilling them out and finding buckets and lenses to replace them... or maybe some model railroad fake water over them...
Does anyone have a Vega kit they'd like the Cosworth decals for?

That looks cool! You work fast!
Ive always been in awe over what some modelers can do with weathering techniques.

That came out really good! Lol at the scale BMC panel gaps.

For the molded in headlights, Molotow Louis chrome if they aren't already chrome, then a layer of Elmer's white glue, then a shot of gloss clear. Makes a passable looking lense.
Thanks, everyone!
@Benswen, yes, those came with the kit. They look like the trailer wheels you used to be able to get at Western Auto. I would have put some resin Minilites on it, but that would have cost me about three times what I paid for the kit.
I could spend another thousand hours weathering this thing and not be satisfied. Interior and bed:
The exterior, as it stands:
Most of the marks on the sides are much less visible to the eye than to a camera flash.

They look like Longchamps to me. They'd be perfect on an AE86.

I love those wheels. (I have a set like that, that I think I'm going to be using on a build soon.)
1 week in and I have a new direction. Once more pics upload to Google will share them. Gonna be close trying to get this one done. Is deep pearlescent purple over flat black base okay for the apocalypse? Sure why not. Give that neat shine in the odd lighting and smoke right?

If you're combining those two kits it would be epic! Either way, cool project.
Deep pearlescent purple over flat black.
Which tires? If I had more time I'd adapt the 4wd system from the Jeep to the Pinto and go with the super swampers. Think I'll stick to the dirt trackers.
Painting has begun.
slowbird said:I thought it was gonna be the Jeep body on the modified chassis, but this looks awesome too
I thought about that but the shape of the Pinto speaks to me!

That turned out great! Love the cracks in the windshield!
Looks like the TR7 is all I'm going to be able to finish before we have to pack up everything in the house. I'll have to finish the Revell Reynard in August, although I'm still hoping to finish the Tamiya Mustang GT4 this week.
