Trust me kids, they may look a bit dated now, but back in the late 80's, these were the most badass wheels that you could put on your European car.
I've wanted a set of these things for over 20 years and today I finally brought a set home. At 16x7 / 16x8, they were huge for their day. Made in Canada, eh, so they're strong like moose. As a bonus, they came wrapped in a set of Toyo R888's that look like they still have a few track days left in them.
Now I'm just waiting for my agent to call about that cameo on Miami Vice...
I had 16x8 Ronal R9s on my 1982 Camaro but they were red.

Just so you feel that much older...
According to the googles, the last episode of Miami vice was 21 years ago but the earliest episode was 27 years ago!
[valley girl] Oh my god, the rims are like so totally awesome, fer sure, seriously! [/valley girl]
My agent still has one of those giant bag phones.
In reply to Woody:
Hey, my uncle had one of those into the early 2000's. That would get reception in places most phones couldn't.
R9s are pretty cool, they look much like the AMG penta rims for a mercedes. The R9 in 5x112 is a very common aftermarket rim for the mercedes. In either 16x8 or 16x7 they look cool on a mercedes. I've passed on a couple of sets of R9s as they are pretty common for a mercedes. I'm going to put some Rial mesh on my car. The other rims from the day which were popular on mercedes are BBS RA, BBS RS, Ronal Centra, Lorinser LO. I'd love a set of Lo but they are very rare. Ronal Centra in 16x8 are pretty rare also.
Here's the AMG penta looks much like R9s.
Rials were the ones to have in the early 80's.
R9's? pffftttt....
Ronal Teddy's FTW...........
I'm sorry, I don't care what anyone says, 80's wheels are awesome.

Combine these with Rufledt's 80s van restoration for the ultimate win!
15x7 OZ/MSW Vega on the Maserati.

The "stance" crowd masturbates over many of these wheels--especially the BBS RS. HUGE with the stretched-tire/slammed/herrafrush crowd.
Those R9's would fetch a decent amount on stanceworks or another hellaflush-type board.

Being on a Maserati Biturbo certainly guarantees low mileage on the rims (but potential flat spotting on tires.)

Is it weird the R9's don't look dated to me? (says the guy who dailies a aw11)
I always wondered how they got the teddy bears to balance. Extra huge weights?

I purchased SL25's for my Civic, but they rock on my '86 Prelude.
my bucket list wheels are Borbet type As
Why don't they re-pro some of these 80s wheels?
I mean, you go to the mall and all the kiddies are dressed like it's 1986, except nowadays, boys and girls wear the same pants.
Would this saleen from the 80s be sporting Ronal wheels?
not Ronals.... but Trakyoto Drag 902s, 15x7, 12#s each

Those R9s are badass. What are they going on?
I love vintage Ronals... I'm still holding out for a set of these:
