So it seems that if I want to buy Tire and Wheel packages from TR, I MUST pony up the extra 300 for the TPS nonsense?
Man, are these stupid little things ever invasive. Somebody please build an emulator to so I can be done with them. It must be possible to scan the code they generate and broadcast it? Transceiver chips are only a few dollars each.
That could probably be done, but here's the deal: in response to the Explorer/Firestone recall these things have been mandated. The unfortunate thing is that to disable one is considered tampering with a safety system. Sell emulators to goober wit 22 blingoes yO then he gets hisself kilt, his baby momma sue hell outa everyone in sight.
Either disable the system on the car or get programmable TPMS modules. Just search for "programmable TPMS"
Problem solved. e-chatted with very helpful tech support and we found a work around. For once, it might of helped to be in Canada.
Just remember, you are ordering wheels and tires for a much older (pre-TPMS) car with the same bolt pattern as your own...
TPS - Throttle Position Sensor
TPMS - Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Just thought I'd clear that up.
I was turning in my sales dude leased work car Trailblazer and the tires were maxed out with 75,000 miles on them. I had to put new tires or pay what the dealer would charge my employer to do it.
Hello; Wally World - Got cheap tires? Dropped off to get called that they check the sensors BEFORE the tires are changed and all 4 of mine are defective - $80 total and they only have three. Nope - pull the car off the rack.
Hello NTB; Got cheap tires? Yes and we can reset your sensors. All was good.
