There is a distinct lack of any information based on sound scientific knowledge and mainly people going "I had this bad experience once" or "the tires are different so that is bad!"

I can sort of buy the argument of why you wouldn't want to run mixed on a specific axle as apparently they don't "track" the same, but I can't see why running one axle with two bias ply and one axle with two radials would be a big deal.

Normally, I'd run all the same tire of course, but as I was not aware this was an issue, the replacement tire I bought (a radial, vs my other three bias ply) has been run for a couple thousand kms. I've noticed no distinct issues towing, no bad heat, no nothing, but everybody makes it sound like I am going to die and blow up an orphanage or something?

The only issue I can see with that scenario is getting the weight distribution right. The nominal diameters of the bias plies and the radials will likely be different to begin with, and the radials will "squish" and have an even smaller effective diameter. Unless you have the trailer set just right on the tires, you might be putting most of your load on the taller, bias ply tires without realizing it. I'm not sure if it would be better putting the taller tires on the front or the back, honestly.

I've got bias plies on my trailer now and they are much taller than the same size radial. They are even a good bit taller than another bias ply trailer tire I picked up somewhere, so I guess there's a lot of variance.

The two track/slip differently, personally I'd only run a mix on a multi axle, with matching axle pairs.

BTDT on my toy hauler I ran out of radial spares so on went a bias with 3 radials. Towed about 10 trips 300miles each and about 15 trips at 10 miles each and I could not tell any difference. Fact I forgot about it until two weeks ago was getting ready for a long trip and said oh crap and swapped over to all 4 bias as I had them on rims on a dead / storage trailer and they only had 2000 miles on them. I do feel a diffreance with the trailer having all bias. even with the weight distribution hitch with anti sway I feel the trailer move when big rigs go by I never felt that with the radials... seems odd as the bias have stiffer sidewalls but the tread doesn't flatten out like the radials did. I had planed on buying 5 new maxxis trailer tires this spring but funds were low so will wait until spring.
