In the midst of putting back together my 16V after pulling the head a few weeks ago. I'm putting all the misc bit and pieces back together, when it came to the coolant flange on the side of the head I had all the sensor hookups but one.

I can't seem to find a spade to hook up to this anywhere. I don't recall having a sensor hooked up to nothing. A little help from anyone who can lend a hand would be greatly appreciated.

I checked my 1.8 and 2.0 heads and have nothing mounted there. It seems to be a tapped hole but its closed on the back end. Sort of like it is supposed to be used for a fixture bolt or something.

Also...That looks like a black insulator on that sensor. If so it is probably a temp sender for the instrument panel, like the one on the other side of the coolant flange.

Somebody on the Vortex Scirocco forum just told me its a nothing sensor. Just there to fill a hole.

Guess I'll finish putting the head on and see if any coolant sensors go crazy.

Does the car have a LCD display between the tach and speedo? (Where the clock is..) That sensor might be for the engine temp on a car with that display...
