3650/370Z, FR-S/BR-Z, and 5th Gen Camaro SS. The Camaro and Z cars were the same impression. Bloated, overweight, and just not exciting. FR-S/BR-Z were just a yawn in my test drives. At least with the 200hp you get out of a new Si, Vtak lets you know power is on and it screams a bit. They also felt just as cheaply put together as new WRX/STis.

Imagine having a street legal tractor that will go 80mph and keep you somewhat dry when it rains. Comes in handy.

RWD cars = insta-hoonage (ya ya, it's illegal blah blah blah so is speeding). I'm not condoning driving like an shiny happy person, but when you can peel away from a light turning left across an intersection and just drift the ass-end out EVER SO SLIGHTLY it feels like heaven. I have been disappointed by many cars. Most of VW's products stock come to mind, as well as the Focus (I don't care what anyone says, that is a god awful car). Part of my disappointment probably stems from driving one of the lightest production cars ever made (turbo firefly/Swift GT's) typically with modifications done to them. Kind of taints the soul a bit in regards to lightweight nimble cars. And then driving high hp rwd cars does the same thing at the heavier end of the spectrum. AND having raced heavier higher powered fwd cars, you realize how much THOSE suck.

I have a 250-270whp Miata. I can honestly say that I enjoy my MX6 more.

None berkeleys given about the how.

OR a car the size of an FRS with 300 hp out of a high revving 2.4 straight 6 and get a modern 240Z. I'd buy 2
Wheelbase, length and height are nearly identical. The Z adds another 3" in width.........I'd still call them close enough in size as to be a wash.
There is nearly a 700 lb weight difference as well if I'm not mistaken.
More like 400 according (3200 vs 2800) to what I'm reading, but the Z is also a leather clad/BOSE stereo/NAV having Grand Touring car with a 340HP V6 and sub 5 sec 0-60.......not a spartan, underpowered 4 banger. They are not really meant to be directly compared. I was just pointing out your concept of FR-S being "smaller" isn't accurate.

Ok so 400 lbs less and 3 inches more narrow BUT with 300 hp is what I'm saying the Z SHOULD be, I was never comparing the two cars

"In the quiet words of the virgin mary, come again?"

I think I'd be more than thrilled if mine had 150whp! However, I kind of know what you're talking about since the 5.0 had so much shunt, it bordered on nerve wracking more than fun sometimes driving it on the street.

Uhhhh the opposite really. The Miata isn't scary enough, not enough drama, it's all too easy.

The MX6 is scary, more involved, and more engaging. Despite this, it's also infinitely more comfortable.

I think deep down there's something hiding in a Miata thay I like. So... I'm building a 400whp+ Miata to test that theory.

E30 M3, E36 M3, and E92 M3. . .

E30 M3 for the street is overhyped. Oh wow that thing feels slow. I co-drove one at an autox and was still like . . . meh, give me 325is instead.

Having own a E36 M3 and its plain jane relatives (318 and 325), I say gimme the 325/328. 90% of M3 power at 20% of the cost. Take rest and go on vacation . . .

E92 M3 . . . Ugh, you have to rev the piss out of it get going. 295 tq @ 4000 revs in 3700lb coupe makes for a hoo hum street runner. It feel no more powerful than my E34 530i in the low RPM range

I drove one with the DCT and thought it was amazing.

But that kind of comparison to a car that is only a few hundred lbs less and has 40% less tq, I just don't understand.

I guess maybe if you're trying to lug it around 40mph in 6th gear it might feel sluggish, but why would you do that?

Yep, this. Bought the hype, finally found one, wanted to like it soooooo bad. But it sucked . . . really, really sucked. Even given ironic hipster points for being a turbo'd wagon, it was slow, handled like a Brinks truck, had a cheap, crappy interior and had the usual "its a turbo'd Subie, it must be worth $$$$$$$$" price on it. It was kind of like clicking on one of those "stars without makeup" news links.

None of those models are before 85 but I hear you. The non intercooled turbo Buicks dont count in "GNX"

For me it had to be the C5 corvette. A friend bought one a couple years ago and he let me take it for a drive. It was a 6 speed convertible. While the car was in great shape and looked great, it just felt fat and sluggish. Plus it had the same steering wheel as my 1998 bonneville, which was a total boner killer.

I did get the chance to flog a C5Z which was quite a bit better, but still not the superhero of a car I was expecting.

Clutch and row yerself gearbox left me feeling cold, again in the low rpm range. After 4 grand it was wonderful, but who wants to buzz around town @ 4000+ rpm in V8 . . .

To me, the S65 feels just like a S14 . . .

Never drove a one with DCT.

E30 325is. I've spent 3 years and more money than I care to admit trying to understand why you people love this POS so much...

Back when I was 20, I test drove a '69 Charger General Lee replica. 383 auto. It was fast, for sure, but coming from my '82 Subaru 4WD wagon, it was my first experience with horrific muscle car handling.
