It's really not that bad if you're patient and can take all the precision measurements correctly. A lot of the tools shown aren't really necessary unless you're building axles every day. It's easily a weekend job, an experienced person could do one in an afternoon.
Still going to be cheaper for you to hunt down a good used rear though.
