So my 1990 Ford camper van tends to be at a premium for space when traveling to the track and my very short single axle trailer doesn't have any room for anything but the car.

It occurred to me that if I mounted my motorcycle hitch mount carrier on the front I could easily bring my 62 Honda 90 along tomthn track.

Naturally my concern is that cooling will then become an issue. Keep in mind I live in the Mojave Desert and routinely drive in 105F.

So anyone have experience with front mounted motorcycle carrier and if so did you have any cooling problems?

I would guess that if the motorcycle is around a foot away from the grille that a lot of air will still get around it and you will probably be fine. Take that guess for what it's worth!

Would a bicycle work? It would be a whole lot less weight and even if you put it up front it would black much less air.

I bring a bicycle now;'I really want to bring my 57 year old Honda 90 just because it's so cool.

If keep it a bit off the grille like Vigo said, it should be okay. I would be more worried about it getting crunched in a collision.

Any way to put a rack on the front of the trailer, so the 90 is just above the front of the hood or right in front of the hood? Hard to say without seeing your setup.

Can you mount the motorcycle hitch mount carrier on the trailer? Like over the tongue?

The trailer is too short to mount anything on the front. I'd given thought about installing my hitch mount carrier on the rear of the trailer but that means pulling the hitch carrier off to load and unload the car.

It used to be pretty common to carry small motorcycles like your Honda on front mounted racks, but then again you have pretty high temperatures to deal with.  No way to know unless you try.

How big is your radiator? 2 or 3 core? Find a 4 core and stick it in there. You can throw on a twin electric fan set up if needed after that.

Guys mount dirt bikes up there ALL THE TIME.  I don’t know how they don’t have cooling issues.  I’ve asked about it on other forums but have yet had anyone say it overheats.  And some of these are pulling big trailers.

Many mount the spare tire there.   I think it would block more air than your little bike.

I've never had any trouble with cooling on the front of a 98 K2500 or an 08 K3500, but I've never actually put a motorcycle up there.

They're pretty "porous" so plenty of air should get through.  You also have the benefit of a clutched fan, so it will pretty actively draw air through.

Is it the step-thru model? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of room for air flow.

Friend carries his Honda CT70 on the right side fender of the race trailer. The rack is built so the front bike tire sits down in front of the trailer fender, and the rear of the bike sits on top of the fender.

That's a cool set up on the trailer  but unfortunately mine is to narrow for that.

My van does have a 4 core radiator meant for a 460 powered van rather than my 351 powered van.

The Honda is a CA200 which is a non step through 90, sounds like I may need to just try it.
