I need a motorcycle moved from Maryland to Connecticut. Has anybody here used a motorcycle shipper before? I have used them from a seller's perspective, but this is the first time that I have one coming my way.

Why not just rent a pickup?

I understand Forward Air has a pretty good reputation for motorcycle shipping. They use containers specifically designed for bikes: https://www.forwardair.com/prepaid/MCmainpage.jsp

I used a guy on uship to deliver my Triumph from Iowa to TN. He specializes in enclosed MC transport. I wanted to do a fly and buy , but we had a vacation scheduled and I couldn't miss enough work to do both.

Is it ridable? Pay me/a GRM relay to ride it there for you?

I have a pickup, but it would be about an 11 hour round trip, plus fuel and food stops. Not worth it in my opinion. Haul Bikes can do it for $555, which I'm using as a baseline. I know that you are are the mercy of their loop, but I've seen their rigs and they are very professional. It's a little more than I expected, but they're the frontrunners right now.

$555 actually sounds very reasonable for professional, insured shipping of something the size of a bike.

Just 11 hours? I'd do it. 11 hours is an easy day's drive there. lol

That's what I was thinking. I got a UShip offer to do it for $269, but I don't have any idea of the level of professionalism.

I sold the Buel blast and the export company had theses guys from PA pick up the bike to haul it to Ca. Avanti Auto transport 215-645-0605 they had 14 other bikes and spoke little English but did use 3 nice straps on it. Mario was the guy I talked to on the phone. not sure what they charged as it was not my bill.

I went by their feedback and pictures in their profile. The guy that brought mine was delivering a few higher end bikes.

I used U ship once to get a bike and a large box of spres fron NC to OH. Cost less than $500 in a large encosed trailer.

I sold 2 bikes to people that used U ship - one from OH to TX that came by with a empty 40+ foot car trailer and another that came by with a pick-iup towing a speed boat. they put the bike inthe back of the pick-up with some other stuff. Didn't seem the best idea to me, but I wasn't paying.

U ship has motorcycle only shippers and they have ratings. as long as you choose one that is rated high, then you should be safe.

I did buy a bike back in the 1990s from CO that the shipper sent vi Roadway. he went to a dealership and got a motorcycle crate from a new ZX-9. He dropped it at the terminal and I picked it up at the terminal by me. Not sure how much I paid, but I remeber being very plesently suprised at how cheap it was.
