Just wondering if anyone here has any long term experience with the MSD 2225 fuel pump, i.e. does it 'fall off' as it gets some age on it? How about the Walbro GSL392 '255' pump?

Have had a Walbro 255 "HP" in the mx6 since day 1. No issues. Well worth the $90.

I have had a Walbro 255 and a Bosch 044 for both over 100k miles on different cars. Cant go wrong with either of those.

The MSD I have never heard of anybody using personally so I don't know about it.

So far so good. How's the Walbro noise level? The MSD I know first hand to be pretty noisy.

BTW, what sparked this question was seeing the different fuel pressure curves. The MSD starts out a little below the max the S5 rotary requires but should, theoretically, hold the normal 'running' pressure needed. The Walbro starts out higher and stays higher; its pressure curve at 12.5V looks like the MSD's at 13.8. I'm buttoning my car up but have to start fabbing the fuel and electrical for my bud's GT6 soon.

My Walbro is pretty quiet. I can hear it whine from time to time, but that's usually just sitting in traffic. The rest of the time the road noise and/or motor drown it out.

I also have a stripped rear interior and the access panel is exposed. With carpet and a rear seat, i wouldn't hear it at all.

I had a Walbro on my Forester XT for 2 years and about 30k miles. I had full interior and never heard it, performed perfectly with no issues.

My Walbro was quiet but my Bosch 044 is VERY loud if that is a consideration.

Yeah I ran a single 044 in tank of a Galant VR4. When the fuel level was low and absolutely howled. Of course with the tank filled it quiented down a litte. Just a thought though if you mount something externally.

In both my apps it's going to have to be external. I realize this will add noise, in the race car it's not a biggie but the other car's hatch area will be like an echo chamber and it will be street driven. I see the rubber sleeves that are sold, my concern with that is heat. On my car I run the MSD nekkid, if I go Walbro I'll do the same. On the other car I'm gonna have to do something different if the pump is noisy, probably a baffle around it with sound deadener that still allows air to flow over it for cooling.
