FYI only. Looks like Nissan's got a hot one here. Like or hate Motor Trend here it is.

From what I've seen the shorter wheelbase will have the most impact as it should make the car more agile.
I don't know that 7 speed auto, is it a dual box like Porsche's and VWs or is it really a slush box? The article talked about rev matching.
I have never been a Z fan, but the new 370Z pushes my buttons. Seems like a GREAT car at a good price.
I always loved the Z's, want one and I would take this over the new Skyline, handles better, quicker, lighter, cheaper, just think of all the goodies you could put on with the money you save from buying this over the R35, and smoke it.
Toy-like oversized wheel arches, the fugliest door handle ever (Did it get even uglier with this new version?), and somewhat spotty quality of Nissan's in general lead me to say no thanks.
nissan and spotty? Only thing spotty is the whole issue with the warranty and launching the new GT-R. I like the 370 but i think i like the G37 better
Everything after the 280zx has just not done it for me and this is no different. In fact to the non Z fan I really can not tell the difference between it and a 350 or one of those Mercury things or the Eclipse. Just another boring look-a-like all the other modern car "aero box". What it proves to me is that everyone is using aero software and they are all coming to basically the same exterior shape.
I apologise to all the Z fans out there but this car is aesthetically boring to me. It may be fast and handle great and I am sure it will be passing me on the track in the near future but it just does not excite me
I am waiting for the retro Z. Since we already have the "spaceship Z" it would be a refreshing change. I think Nissan has devised to far from the original.
Sometimes change is not so good. Look at the success of the beetle, mini, and even to some degree the cu rent mustang.

He's correct. Nissan's reliability went down the E36 M3ter once Ghosen got ahold of them. They're winning the recall circus because of their latest 4-cylinder. The V8's aren't so great, either, I hear the Titan drinks oil like a mofo.
Basically, the VQ family of V6s are the only thing Nissan has going for it.
I HATE the lights on the new Z. The rest of the car looks pretty good, though.
Dear Nissan,
Please keep the current engine and transmission from the 370Z, install a proper LSD, and make it look exactly like this car:
Sincerely,
Everyone
What on earth is that?
It looks superb. But, if we (who keep unloved '80s sh*tboxes running as daily transport) like it, then maybe that means the masses won't see the appeal.

It's a rendering that a 240Z owner made of what they hoped the new 370Z would be.
The masses won't see the appeal on their own, the advertising would really have to push the whole "nostalgia" aspect of the car. That strategy worked for a while for the new Mustang. :D
