I have a '92 240SX currently without an engine. I have two engines. I will not leave either one stock. Which one is the better choice the 3 liter or the 3 and a half?
Full disclosure: I got both for a song. Whichever one I decide not to use I will sell to help fund the swap/build. And because I don't have a lot of space to store stuff.
vq35
Is there any rational way to justify the vq30?
The VQ30DE (K?) is a smoother/more refined engine by far, but other than that I don't really see any other advantages if power/performance is your goal.

Well the VQ30 is dirt cheap and can make good power with N/A mods. I think I read that it will bolt up to the stock 240SX trans. If I sold the VQ35 I could make a decent amount of $. They go for ~$1200 on ebay.
You could sell both and get an LSX or some bastardized variant of it.
There's a reason why the most popular mod for most cars is "add MOAR LSEXXXXX!"

If this is true then I am sold. The displacement would be nice with a 30 is not worth much and the 35 is. Done. Swap financed.

See that's what I was thinking. The 35 is better from the get go, but I could have a 30 swapped car for no money spent on my part.
Oh and taken from the VQ Thread:

I weighed my VQ longblocks. 240lbs. No manifolds accesories, just long blocks including valve covers. Both my maxima VQ30 and my g35 VQ35. FWIW they weigh the same as KA24's. Same as a long block, short block etc etc. Gotta love compact aluminum v6's :D
So I'm buying my friends S13 coupe for $500, selling the perfectly running KA for $150, and putting in my VQ30 with the ka 5 speed ASAP.

I would sell the 35 to finance the 30. You can make all the power youll want with the 30. The only difference is going to be naturally aspirated torque levels.
