you know what, I like the mustang deuce. esp with cool king cobra scheme.
but I'd pick a corvair monza over it.
a regular chevy monza? nah
If it's Mustang II:

I'll take POR 15. Have to say that as much as I love cars, not sure either one would excite me, even in "Cobra" form.

Just like how the Monza was a glorified Vega. What's your point?

A better comparison of the IMSA version:

yeah, just slightly longer wheelbase and factory V8. Proportionally they are a little goofy, which is why I photoshopped that silver convertible up there. Moved the front wheels 4" forward and a few inches upward to fix the proportion problems of the front fender, and then sunk the stock bumpers in by a similar amount in order to make them less bulky while still being there.

Not sure that's true. I thought the Monza was a from-scratch new chassis originally intended for the stillborn GM rotary engine.

Yeah, even though I had a model of that car, I've never really been a fan of the way it looks. It's the whole headlight area that fails for me, as it loses the M II identity. The Monza keeps it's identity, even with the box flares.
In reply to jstein77:
It is true as much as it is with the Mustang and the Pino. I had a Vega for years, along with two Olds Starfire's, and there were tons of parts that were interchangeable between the two.
BTW, I also had a '71 Pinto wagon and a '78 Mustang II.
None of these cars were stock.

Monza Spider. Or was it Spyder?

The MII I posted is heavily lowered with fat flares, so I didn't want to post a non flared Monza. I'd say a better match would have been the Monza Mirage with the factory boxed flares:
LIved with both, in V8 flavor. Prefered the Ford. The build quality of the Monza was incredibly bad.

Sorry, but the Monza was a re-skinned Vega and used most of its' underpinnings. The V8 version had clearances so tight the rear spark plugs were under the cowl and nearly impossible to access.
R&T tested a V8 version and noted the brakes were standard Vega fare. They were terribly inadequate because the Monza weighed more and the bias was moved further to the front. Heat build-up was so bad that the plastic wheel covers melted and fell off the car during braking tests.
After doing some wiki-work it seems V8 was an option for all but the last year. But this was the 70s so V8 meant 130-140hp tops. What a horrible period for cars. Especially american ones. The Dekon Monzas dominated Camel GT in 76 & 77. I honestly wouldn't want a street version of either of these. My Mom had a monza and a friend later had a MII. Both were crap.
