26 mpg does not equal 30mpg. A good step in the right direction. when cars like this reach 35 and 40mpg then we'll talk.

Well, you do have the 2011 V6 which has nearly doubled that 165hp and gets over 30mpg. There are a few more tricks they can pull out of the hat in the near future. I'd consider the Camaro over the Mustang because it at least had a torque arm instead of the triangulated four link of the Mustang. It's quite telling that the Camaro trounced the Mustang in handling. At least Ford improved the suspension now. Too bad it took Ford 40 years to begin taking suspension design somewhat seriously. It's still disappointing that GM can't quite get around to making a reasonably light Camaro, though. My stock 2008 Corvette scaled out to 3200 with a bit over half a tank. Still a bit heavy. I hear they're going to shrink it down to 3000-ish in the next generation.

I raced a carbed 5.0/5spd mustang gt that seemed totally stock with my Dodge Dynasty once. I blew him out of the water through a 100+ mph sweeper on the highway, and then beat him from 70-105mph 3 times in a row. He did pass me after 105, though, rocking back and forth in his seat very anxiously. I was leaving the powerband in 3rd, while he was probly right in the middle of his in 4th.

Anyway, that was a fun way to compare 1985 to 1993

watch out for me, stock early 80s carbed ponycars...
