The R1 wasn't a big sales success, was it?
I agree that a car like this is nothing like the Club Sport was. Interestingly, I've probably seen at least half of the Club Sports and every single one has been modified.
This isn't a sellable car, of course. That dashboard alone is probably half the cost of a new MX5. Although I do like the idea of body-in-white. That would make it a lot easier to build our V8 cars

0-60 in 3 seconds "flat" (3.0 seconds)? Really? I know it's light, but a Zonda needs 600+ HP to do it in 3.5 seconds. I'm just saying...
A zonda is geared for something like a million miles an hour, gear it for the same 160mph top speed of the miata and see what happens.
My bike engine autox car will do 0 to 60 in the mid 3's easy and its only 160hp,its geared for a max of 115 mph though.
The R1 was a big success around here. It took me forever to find one.

I wonder how much those cars were priced at? I remember the Club Sport but never actually saw one on a lot. I wonder what the Monroney sticker looked like.

Funny...that's the first thing I noticed too. 275hp in that weight doesn't seem sufficient to get to 3 flat.
