This is the start right now of a bit of bragging I have to do right now I have meaning to do for a couple of weeks now. I posted a while back I was doing pics at Wilmont Speedway, a 1/3 mile dirt track by me. kinda weird how I got to be a track photographer. I will expalin that in a bit. The first thing I have to explain why this pic is so imortant.
July 26, 2014 the Interstate Racing Asst. was in town, they are a traveling racing series in the upper midwest started back in the 60's by Whitey Harris(who also ran wilmont speedway for about 40years) and Ray Toft.
a few days later after taking the pic the guy who does the annoucing at the track asked if i had a pic with the founders in it. This was the only good shot I had of them and it turned out that someone at the wisconsin short track hall of fame which is housed in the hartford, Wi auto meausem was looking for a pic of them. So I can brag that MY pic is going to be hung in a hall of fame for racing and I have not even been doing the track thing for very long.
a brand new GRm shirt I just found in a drawer that I had to wear to the track at least once.Sorry, the image sucked, not sure what happened for some reason.
One of the female driver out at the track I have talking to. runs street stock and a buick regal.
one of the other female driver runniing a ford contour and is a senior in high school and runs fearless fours class.
the main facebook page I have posted everything on that I have done this summer along with some cars shows also like the amc home coming which was very cool for the amont of amcs in one spot.

i willpost some pics later that i think are very cool and fun when I get back from dinner. hopw everyone likes this stuff even though it is short trck dirt action. i know i still poke fun at the some the poeple about this style of racing now and then at the track. but its still cool to be there every week and see who is doing what and how quick they can fix those cars.
Small world. My dad and all his siblings were born and raised in hartford. Ive been to that museum many times with grandpa when I was younger.
Congrats
My aunt and uncle worked at slinger speedway and beaver dam raceway when I was young and I just thought it was the coolest thing ever to ditch the rest of my family and go to work with them, helping keep track of cars in the booth amd occasionally getting to watch a race standing up with the flag man. Say what you will but amateur short track racing can be pretty exciting even if they only turn left.
It has been fun talking to everyone each week and see who the good rscers are and those that suck or just dont have the right gear. But its amazing watching them have a tire changed in just a couple of laps or last week a come from behinf finish
Number 53 in street stock was running near the top 5 till someone bumped him and spun out anf got tagged in the front. Came back out anf placed 2nd in the feature race which was 35 laps. This was the car run and owned by the family that had thier memory of a sone that died. That was one hell of a finsh for them with thier car being hit.

it funny when you attand a car show down town like this one and a few poeple show up on tractors. that is just two funny. There where also some racing mowers also in the show. Hoping to talk to them more and get a gig with that group doing photos for that group next year I am hoping meybe.
but anyway, the link above has all the pics. here is a couple of cool ones.
On sat night I was back out at wilmont speedway for more dirt action with vintige stock cars showing up along with a vintage mod car from back in the day with a old flat head 8 under the hood which was very cool to watch it take a couple of hot laps.

why is this the thing I think is the coolest?
I'm 20 minutes from Wilmont. I need to get my ass up there.
I did not know you in my neck of the woods. Sept 13 is the last night of the season.
Well, the end of summer means the end of short track racing. I will be adding more pics this week from wilmont speedway. I also have to go though and edit and sort though 16 gigs worth of lawn mower racing from this past weekend.....thats over 1000 pics....sigh, not sure why I wen that nuts, just have to edit down to the best pics to keep and up load them before the weekend. I did talk to a utv group sat nigh about shooting thme next year which could be fun. I talked to two different lawn mover racing groups about shooting them. A lawn mower pulling group also to shoot them also pkus going back to wilmont also....should be fun if I can land most of these groups for shooting racing for sure.....
