I was led to believe that dogs see things in B&W and can't fathom TV.   Wow!  Got that one wrong.  Stella (Chiweenie) launches herself off the couch the jump at the TV when there's horses or cows, in real life she doesn't give them a second look.  She grumbles and talks to herself when someone singing opera shows up.  =~ 0

This has been bothering me for almost two years...

Totally worth the ten bucks.

TIL that if you installed a Genuine Volvo Strut Tower Brace on your dog's V70R back on Page 12...

...it becomes a huge PITA to change the Genuine Volvo Cabin Air Filter.

You need to remove the passenger side of the brace in order to raise the plastic cowl cover and access the filter. frown

We just turned 120k miles, so it was time for another oil change.

I'm not sure if it was related to the pandemic or not, but I had a pretty hard time finding Mobil 1 in 10W-40, which is odd because it used to be such a common weight that I just referred to it as "oil".

Anyway...no spillage this time.

And oil changes have gotten so much easier since I started working in liters. I think this "Metric System" could really catch on someday.

I also collected another oil sample and sent it off to Blackstone Laboratories; partly because I was just curious to see how things are holding up, and partly because I think it will show a good pattern of maintenance when it comes time to pass this car along to the next owner.

Wow...giant photos^.frown

Sorry about that. I added those mostly so I can use the info for my own future reference.

More good news from Blackstone Laboratories!

I got the results of the most recent (third) oil sample that I've sent in for testing on this car:

"This Volvo is wearing even better as of the 6/10/21 sample date than it was last August, and that's saying something, since those were really good results too. Chrome, iron, copper, and tin all declined slightly on the same interval, so your engine's parts are generating less metal. The viscosity of this 10W/40 was still a little thin, but that may be in part due to carryover from the 10W/30 used last time. No measurable fuel was detected, nor was there significant coolant contamination. The air and fuel filter kept silicon and insolubles at reasonable levels. Nice!"

That's why every antiques dealer in the UK used to drive a Volvo estate.

I cleaned the car up today, as I'm taking it on a minor road trip in the morning to a vintage hill climb. This isn't my most vintage car, but it is my most vintage car with functional air conditioning, and I'm getting soft.

I also changed the Mann air filter for the second time since we've owned it (not too bad), and added 675ml of oil. (Posted for my own future reference).

Loving the metric system for fluids.

Mt. Equinox? I drove up that years ago in my 2002 - closed road for the club drive I was part of, so it was...brisk. Bumpy as hell too.

Edit: And you posted the sign photo that made my guess look like I was just stating the obvious while I was typing.

I need to stop looking at this thread as it makes a V70R look like a perfectly sensible replacement of my Giulia when the lease runs out.
