My first $200 tankful

$208.56, to be precise.

It's my work van. I can go through that in 2-3 days.

Alright, it's a huge tank. But it still hurts a lot.

Yeah that hurts. I've gottn to where I regularly hit the $100 cutoff in the van, and I put $60 in the WRX today.

I haven't had to fill the Soyburban with diesel for a while, it's a good thing, that thing would take down $200 of diesel. The funny thing to me is that the gas stations still have old limits on the pump stops. At $5 a gallon, those limits come up FAST. Oddly enough, I hate filling the big tanks and seeing those big bills, but the worst for me is filling my motorcycle. If you're on a bike and use a $20 bill but the tank still isn't full, that stings.

I handed them a crisp $100 bill the other day , but bought a Pepsi so it was not $100 :)

its just hard to do and I guess I want to put it off as long as I can....

I filled up the miata for $35 the other day...it wasn't completely empty though, only needed 9.2 gallons.

I've put $41 in my Miata the last few tanks. I run it to the bottom though.

For the first time ever I hit the $75 mark where the pump shut off while filling a rental car Ford Taurus/Ford Five Hundred. The dashboard said that I was getting 23mpg but that thing had a big tank.

Well now people are request to working less days a week but more hours a day to cut down on driving to work more often. So instead of working 5 days a week 9-5pm. People are doing 4 days at 8-9 hours.

So you would be saving yourself about $208 a year.

At this current rate, i'm paying about $2900 a year to drive my car to work and visit family and to the track and back. With maybe one grocery run a week.

I'm going to request a raise to offset cost of living.

If the R/T goes in to the shop, I cant work half shifts, cause i WILL lose money driving the truck

You said 30 miles each way, right? That would be 5X60 = 300 miles per week. 300 X 52 = 15600 Miles a year. 520 Gallons * $4.00/gallon = $2,080.

Cut it to 4 days a week and you're looking at spending $1,664 a year. It's only a $416 savings.

But your point is still valid. It's an interesting idea. I wish I could do the same - even if only for the 3-day weekends!

yeah, i have to start staying at home whenever i can. i only go to places that i have to go, and while i am out, i try and visit the places that i need to get stuff from, like grocery stores and what not. and spend less money on clothes.

years ago when I worked in Hatboro and still lived here at the Jersey Shore, I had a VERY flexible scheadule. As an in-house video editor, as long as I got my assignements done for the week and did my 40.. they didn't care what I worked.

I used to do 2 13s and a 14.. with 4 days off. It was great

must have been nice. i work for a pep boys in georgia. working for corporate sucks. so i cant work schedules like that. plus work is about 30 miles from home. been trying to find somewhere closer.

At the 12 hour race, the track pumps were set to deliver no more than $99 at a go. Most of the cards that we used were only accepted 3 times (merchant issue, not the cards). It becomes an adventure trying to fill a 55 gallon drum with 110 at $7.75 a gallon, and another 55 gallon drum with 93 at $5.75 a gallon.

I hit my first $75 max limit filling up the Tacoma last week, it hurt....

I remember this time last year I hit my first $50 cutoff in the Tacoma...

I put 38k miles on my truck last year, doing the math I calculate I spent $6500 in fuel alone for one year. Guess my road trip days are over

Last weekend in the middle of the night, I was at a gas station that also catered to Semis. The attendant was having a heated discussion with a semi driver about how if the guy wanted to pay in cash and pump until his tank was full (no auto shutoff at a certain $ amt) he had to leave $500 with the cashier and come back after he was done pumping for change. $500? Scary thing is im guessing they dont get much change.

Many long haul trucks could easily suck down over a grand worth of fuel (dual 150 gallon tanks). Some truckers have huge tanks so they can stop less and fill at the cheapest possible location along their route, makes sense as long as you're not space/weight constricted. The biggest I've seen is quad 140 gallon tanks...that's nearly 3 grand for one fillup.

Just a couple months ago, $25 worth of gas would take the samurai from the empty mark to full up to the filler tube...a couple days ago, it was at 1/4 tank and $25 only got it to about 5/8...and the gas down here has never been cheaper than in the US.
