With 6500 miles on it. He bought it last fall with 4800 miles on it. It is nearly perfect. I changed plugs and wires and air/fuel filter, and we put new tires on it. Also flushed the radiator and put a new tstat in it. He says it cut out on him the other day, just for an instant, almost like a miss. So I drove it a few days and could not get it to repeat. Thats when for shiggles I put a new fuel filter on. Very rusty crap ran out of the filter. Then, I noticed the fuel pump is intermittently loud and droney. Think the fuel pump could be the issue? Is it under the seat like the Escorts this thing is related to?
Thanks!
Joey
only 6500 miles on a 20 year old car? i'd guess the fuel system is full of rusty crap from sitting with a gas tank that wasn't kept full and the fuel pump is trashed from sitting with rotten gas in it..
the fuel pump is in the tank, so unless they were nice enough to put a trapdoor in the floor above it you need to drop the tank to get to it.

Thats what I assumed. The escort and Miata which this thing is loosely related both have access. So I'm hoping...
