here is the first you tube I've ever posted. it shows the start up of the newly installed ZX1100 engine in my scratch built lotus 7 style car. this project has been in the works for yrears and it's now getting close to completion. check it out if you get a chance.

Curious how you've solved the issue of reverse & a bike engine.

Thanks for asking. That was by far the hardest engineering challenge. As you know there is no "right way" only what you come up with. After researching a variety of other builders solutions, I built an electric reverse gear mechanisim that sits on the passenger side firewall, in the engine bay, it is on rails so when engaged (hydraulicly) it slides over about a half inch to mesh with a small gear welded to the propshaft. When not engaged, the entire mechanisim slides back out of the way via a set of heavy springs. This is far from perfected, but it will eventually work as desired, or close enough. but the plan is to always park facing out, when possible. I don't want to rely on reverse much, in fact if it gets me through PA state inspection, it will have done it's job!

In reply to snipes: Appreciate it. It sounded even nastier before I fixed a hole in the header. I'm running a stock Hyabusa "can" so it is about as quiet as a stock streebike. Which is cool by me. I don't want to make a ton of noise. Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks. It has been very gratifying, and I'm nearing the really fun part. I can't wait to get the car off the jacks and onto it's own feet.
Awesome! That looks like a really fun project, and it must be exciting to get close to driving the thing! Let us know how the work progresses...
