Pics to follow as soon as the sun comes out!
There are a few things I could use some help with...
1) then engine likes to increase it's revs once it has warmed up. I'll be sitting at a stop, and then engine will speed up by 1000rpm or so by its self. a blip of the throttle usually calms it down. Not a wavy rev like a blown head gasket, but a sharp increase in throttle. Any SU carb gurus around?
2) What's the best way to clean up Chrome? There's some surface rust and general wear I'd like to clear up.
I'm sure I'll find more things today. Blood transfusion is in the works to keep her strong :)

I've always used Turtle Wax Chrome Polish for as long as I can remember. The can I have had for the longest time finally got used up. They sell it in a plastic bottle now and I don't know if the formula has changed.

I had OVLOV as the plate on my car for the first couple of years before swapping to JOTUNN.
Carbs should be SU HS6. Check to see if there is ATF in the top, under black thumb screws. Looking in there the level should fill the inner tube, but not so much that it fills the outer tube.... visual thing. In essence the thumb screw ends in the carbs are little shock type assemblies that need the atf to dampen the carb piston

I think I have a VHS casette that came with my 122 about how to rebuild the SUs. I don't possess a device which can view VHS, so I'd gladly mail it on if you did and cared to watch it. Heck, it may have already been transferred to DVD, youtube, whatever, I never checked. My 122 shall run fuel injection forevermore, no need for it at my house.

Been doing some work. New universal joint, carb stuff, fluids, filters, re-blacked the trim etc. Yesterday I started on a new interior and sound deadening, today I'm hopefully going to finish that as well as repaint the Enkie 92's that came with the car.
It will probably never get painted.
Anyway, here's some progress
with all that sound deadening it should be nearly Lexus quiet....
That's the goal. Comfy DD cruiser. 50sq feet of sound deadening spread between the cabin, trunk, doors and hood.
Anyone have a set of lowering springs? I think this car needs a little low but new springs puts me out of my budget and I'm certainly not going to cut coils!
WARNING/Recommendation: The spring inside the ignition switch is often times a wee bit too strong. Be aware that extended cranking time can cause key fatigue... and eventual failure of the key....
I wired in a simple push button for the starter and I never broke another key again
Hahaha yeah the P.O. Warned me about that. Gave me a pile of extra keys, and showed me his collection of broken ones. Thanks for looking out.
Car looks great! Those wheels are some of my all-time favorites, too!
I gotta ask, where are you? It looks like you're working on your car in the middle of the street!
Lol it's a small dead-end road in the middle of Suburbia. The neighbors are split 50/50 on the car work, with the husbands loving it and the wives hating the mess! All agree the car is cool though :)
btw that's my friend in the pics, thanks for the help dude!
And some more pics, cause someone said they like Enkie 92's..
And the new headliner 50% complete

dude, cut coils. We did for lemons on the Amazon. it works fine, just don't be an idiot. Cut with a cut-off wheel or portaband, rebend with very little heat. Good to go.
What are you using for the sound deadening?
awesome work...got any pics of the painted wheels on the car?

How was the ride quality? This is my DD so I'm looking for more than "just low" unfortunately.

It's B-Quiet Ultimate. Seems to be good stuff, and 1/2 the price of Dynamat.

Well, it was a race car, so I don't really know, but they were something like 30% stiffer and still maintained tons of travel in both directions. As you know, the ride height is crazy high stock, you're not going to lose any ride quality you'd gain by swapping in a stiffer, shorter spring. Other than shot peening them when you're done, how do you think they make stiffer springs?
