I'm so upset I aparently can't come up with a non redundant title.
So, after looking far and wide, I found a very clean is300 sport cross that I plan to build into a turbo manual swapped monster sleeper. It is not the color I was exactly hoping for, as I am not particularly fond of maintaing a black car. I drove it to work (I teach at a school for low income kids trying to turn their lives around) and day 1 one of the kids kicks in the quarter panel because he's having a bad day, then a week later one keys the living e36m3 out of it because I ask him not to sleep in class. Now it's coming back from the body shop with a hopefully show quality paint job (I kicked in a bunch of dough to have it perfect and searched far and wide for THE body shop) and I really don't want to have this happen again. My wife can drive it to her work but it will surely get door dinged to oblivion as she parks in a sea of morons and her cars get hammered parking there. My parking is safe from parking damage but seems prone to vandalism. What do I do, I almost just want to give up, sell it and buy a beater? Do I let the haters of the world beat me into giving up the thing I'm passionate about or do I just keep getting beaten down and getting back up? I didn't even gat a chance to do a photo shoot for you guys yet. Help me GRM!
buy a $500 POS to drive to work..

I think if thats the answer I think I'll just sell it. 90% of my driving is commuting, my commute is 45 minutes each way, for 10% what's the point of a this type of car?

Drive junk. Wife works with kids like that, often has to transport them and their families. I won't send her out in anything I expect to see back at the end of the day.

Sell it. Life is to short to stress constantly about what could happen to your car when you park it somewhere.

drive it on the weekends. put some real miles on it. i currently own 4 vehicles, 3 of which run, one of those 3 has a trans that works whenever the hell it feels like it.. one of the fully functional 2 is parked for 5 or 6 months out of the year due to living in a part of the country that freezes over and it's not particularly well suited to winter driving.. but as of right now, even tho i'm realistically down to 25% of my fleet being usable, i wouldn't get rid of any of them..
Hell I am thinking about get another car from Markwemple (Saab 9-5 wagon) to make my total of running cars that we use 5 with another one in progress. Keep it and drive a E36 M3 box to work. That's what I do.

I live am hour east of nova, and arguably 3 of my 7 are drive able. I could drive the ome mx6 if I put a battery In it. I have both toyollas running. Mini has a spun hearing and its the only I want rid of. Ms3 is mothballed for winter, and there's a couple other projects. Life's too short to have less than 3 cars per driver.

At the moment I have 8 street legal vehicles, 3 are motorcycles, 2 are deep in project land (too many dollars from being drivable in the coming weeks), one is effectively a race car although SWMBO drives it as a daily driver when roads are not salty. I bought this car partly because of it's practicality, but now it's too nice for it's intended use. Doesn't get more first world than this problem. WTF
I think I'm going to need to car pool with SWMBO and drive my old IS300 sedan

The point is to enjoy driving what you like. I'm with the majority of the posters, buy a beater to drive to work, save your baby for the weekends. Believe me, it's much less stressful than having douchnozzles beat on your good car every day. To me, it sounds like a perfect excuse to find a cheap MR2 or hard top Miata to commute in
EDIT: sounds like you already have the answer to your problem, as far as work beaters go, an IS sedan sounds pretty good.
In reply to carbon:
trade one of the motorcycles for a car?
In reply to carbon: Since the kids have damaged the body on your car twice, it's unwise to expect them to not damage it a third time. Even if you could set up cameras so they could be responsible for future damage, it may not be worth it. In short, buy a beater. It's interesting how people don't key or intentionally damage beaters.

I was hoping to turn the sedan (that I bought as a donor for the wagon manual swap)into boost bucks for the wagon :what the:
Stupid kids, I'm trying to help them have a future.

Set up a video camera and have the little E36 M3s arrested. They apparently need to learn that there are consequences for dumbass actions. Why should you have to bend and adapt when they are the ones destroying your property?
Can someone hot link a photo of the car from Road House? Same principle applies.

Sorry for the foul language but it's super applicable.

No, the kids beat the E36 M3 out of your car.
Letting them get away with it is definitely not in their best interest.
And at no point did I say to beat them, but if you do, make sure you tell the arresting officer that you had a bad day.
"The dumb kid threw his face onto my fist repeatedly. I tried to get him to stop, but then he smashed his crotch onto the toe of my boot. I think the kid needs counseling, honestly."

The kids that did the damage are out of the program and long gone. The one that kicked it went to jail the one that I suspected of keying it (99.999999%) did it as a parting gift and is also gone, never to return.

How about getting a new job, one where your hard work is appreciated.

Because without dudes like carbon trying to rescue these kids and teach em, we end up with Ferguson. And keyed up cars. berkeley that noise. Carbon deserves a beer.
you need a 2wd 4cylinder ford ranger. the cheaper the better
