My Excursion is getting old and needy and I've been longing for something modern that can do everything my excursion can but quieter and nicer. Yesterday I flew to west palm beach and picked up this thang.

2015 Ford Expedition EL Platinum. It's 4x4 and has only 65k miles (well 66k now) and so has a year left on its Ford Premiumcare warranty. I had to leave Texas to actually find a deal on anything truck or SUV related.

I just got home from driving 1300 miles in almost 20hrs.

Initial takeaway is... this thing is a beast! Way too fast for its size, I drove at/above 80mph nearly the entire drive . The seats are amazing and the braking and steering feel is better than my Excursion. My Excursion could emergency stop very well with 7k lbs hitched to her, hopefully I won't have to find out how well this one has to stop that much weight at a moments notice. The only place I'd say my Excursion has an advantage is gas mileage, at 78ish mph I can get over 23mpg. In the 80's I don't know because my Excursion is way too loud to cruise at that speed lmao. 7.3 things.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and plan to keep it for 10 to 15 years then I'll replace it with one of those new diesel Escalades. Don't judge me, they're beautiful.

There's a K&N intake (loud and leaky) installed on the Expedition that I plan on removing and putting an OEM one back in its place. I really don't have plans for mods at all.

Nice.  Which motor?  I have a 2013 F-150 with the 3.5EB and it is a fantastic vehicle, the best truck I've ever owned.  The Platinum interior looks awesome in that thing.

I like those seats. Always nice to see something other than back or gray.

I like the blue with the rich looking interior.  So many I see around here are black.  The blue is a good difference.

Nice!  I've driven a couple of those and I was impressed.  I too liked the fuel economy of the old 7.3s.  My '01 F250 regularly knocked down 20+ MPG when I lived on the east coast.  It was in the high teens when I moved to New Mexico and regularly set the cruise at 82 MPH.

My '15 RAM has dipped in to the single digits with the trailer behind it and that's the about the only thing I don't like about it.

So have you done a burnout yet?

Looks nice.  I'm a fan of that generation of Expedition for sure.

I'm surprised you made it this long! Where did you buy it? Off lease only? Good looking truck, congrats!

I heard those things won't do a burnout.

To be honest I was hoping to find a black one or red one.

Bought it from a VW dealership in Florida. I'm the third owner and the previous owner bought it from Ford as a CPO a year ago and they extended the CPO upon purchase. The warranties stay with the car. Another reason I wanted this one is it received oil changes every 5k miles and has no accidents

I didn't know those were rated so high with the tow package. Good to know when my F250 needs to be retired.

Only tip I can offer is that like many turbo cars, the oil starts to smell like fuel after a while. I always change it every 5k miles out of an abundance of caution. Mine has been dead reliable, not a single issue.

I expected this to be about your neighbor's Escalade ESV!

Those seats are hot.

Nope but if you want something off that let me know. I'm going to get it and take the engine. The rest I may part out.

Congrats! That is a fabulous color combo and I really like the wheels. Ford offered a similar interior on the 2018 F-150 Platinum (called Marsala) that I tried to buy, but was sold before I made it to the dealership. It's great.

I have had some decent seat time in a few Fords towing with the 3.5 EcoBoost and regardless of 6-speed or 10-speed automatic, it's an absolute freight train with a trailer attached. You'll like it.

How good was the deal? Tell us what she set you back so I can be miserable I missed out and I have to listen to my wife complain.

Love the blue.

About 27 after it was all said and done. Best deal I could find in the whole country with how it's equipped and under 70k miles.

I'll be taking it up to Summit Point WV with a trailer to pick up a car I bought last year. Guess I'll find out then.

I rented a 10 speed version with a 3.5 in 2019. Maybe it's because it was a rental, but it would definitely do a burn out.

Nice truck, I have a feeling you were going to replace the big rig, not surprised to see you on another Ford. I hope you love it.

Where are these 20 + mpg 7.3 diesels about which ye speak?  Mine only ever got 17 once and that was between stops on the interstate.  It's usually 15 or 16 and sometimes even less.  Mine is F350 dually with 4.10 which hurts but only 4x2 which should help.  Has an "economy" tune to boot.  My wife wonders why we even have a diesel.

Man those things can haul a lot of weight. Same engine but beefier transmission I think.
