I was cross shopping with the 2015+ Suburban and Yukon XL. Letv me tell you, a GM with the same features were either 10-12k more in price or had well over 100k miles if the price was the same. I like the exterior looks of the GM's more but the interior not so much. And the 5.3 seemed kind of low on power for the size. The 6.2 was great but only came in Yukon Denali trim $$$$.

My Excursion is 4x2 and stock. For the 2019 holidays I from from Texas to Virginia and back. I filled up every 950 miles and the tank wasn't on E yet. On the way back I filled up after 1013 miles of driving. 44 gallon tank. My cruise control doesn't work so I had to use my feet lol.

Definitely agree with your choice.
Drove this around Maine and New Hampshire for three weeks, and to the top of Mount Washington.

Just did 3000+ miles towing. From Texas to Northern West Virginia and back. Towed through the mountains of NC, TN, VA, and WV.
The truck pulls like it has all the power. Had absolutely no issues going up steep grades, no cooling issues and the transmission always picked the right gear. It honestly feels a lot more powerful than my 7.3 excursion. Did about 12.5-13 mpg average. Lots of gas, I'm not used to filling up every 380 miles or so. Wish it had a 40+gallon tank.
Key takeaways:
- Upgrade shocks to Bilstein 5100's
- Upgrade brakes, they were super noisy and dusty especially braking while going downhill
- The tires are new but SL load range. I'm used to E, so maybe something inbetween?
