I had moved the pics on my photobucket to a sub-folder, I just updated the links so it should be good now.
That really is super-cool. Another vote for fix what is broken and leave the rest alone. Or is that, leave the rust alone? It looks amazing just as it is.

Im sorry but i would paint that one it looks straight and everything is there. Those cars look great in a dark color and wide whites....on the firewall that controls all the hyd it can have seats, windows and door locks controled by the pump
I agree on painting it. The car will last longer with a protective coating on it. Something like that deserves to last a long time. And gotta be dark color with wide whitewalls.

+2. We sort of had this discussion a few weeks ago, but IMHO this car has passed the point of "patina" and is drifting precariously towards "rusting hulk". It's not like much of the original paint remains...

i am really liking this find my uncle was into the 62's he had a 48 but it had a "flathead" in it. i believe 48 was the year they started the crossover to OHV engines....i wonder which is worth more.....

I'm just starting my Cadillac education, but from what I understand:
1948 first post-war body redesign, still had carryover flathead
1949 new OHV V8 (331 CID) which was lighter and more powerful than flathead
I got home after dark last night, but I will be doing more pics this weekend

Update - I was half right, the hydraulic pump is there, but the "pickle jar" is actually the windshield washer reservoir. I'm amazed that it's survived 64 years as-is.
I'm also assuming that wasn't a very common feature at that time.
Another thing I noticed is how well it's put together. For exanple, the doors don't sag at all and close with a nice solid thud that puts any current car to shame. It would probably even pass the Lexus ball bearing test ...

Christine was a Plymouth - Maybellene (just realized I've been spelling it wrong) was a Caddy (actually a Coupe de Ville, but close enough)
