Anyone have some dimensions for the bmw n52? I got a 62 Midget shell and would love to see if this can slot in. Otherwise, 2.0 mzr.

I'd look at the 4 cylinder options that pose fewer packaging challenges. Either the BMW 4 cylinders, Volvo 5 cylinders, or GM Ecotec (NA or turbo). Or if you like rpm, an S2000 engine.
A Midget would require a pretty goofy looking bonnet hump to clear the front of the N52, I would think.
But never say anything is impossible - have you seen this one that someone managed to shoehorn a Jag straight 6 into (heaven knows what is left of the Midget chassis).
I guarantee this guy has good dimensions: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/brunton-stalker-m-spec-bmw-n52/149440/page1/
I can take more careful measurement if you like... This was a quick and easy check. Let me know if you want anything more precise or specific. What i measured was firewall to the front at 29 inches, crossmember subframe up about 24 inches, and widest parts of manifold to manifold about 23 inches
The jag sprite was what gave me the bad bad idea to even look.
I posted in the stalker thread and on his thread on locostusa but haven't seen anything in a couple days.
thank you thank you for the measurements. I think the width is going to kill it. The angle may make the height ok but I think that the overall width might kill it. I'll take some closer looks with your measurements and get back to you all.
Btw - the other plan is mzr 2.0. It looks like it will fit fine. The sweet six soundtrack will be missed though.
So I can and plan to take out the heater shelf which sits next to the firewall. That's why I can do 30" fore and aft. Vertically I have 23" from bottom of the frame rail to the hood. I can get a little more with some very minor pan mods or a bash guard below the rail. Side to side I can clearance the top of the footwell with zero passenger impact.
this is way too close to call.
In reply to Teh E36 M3 :
A Jag V12 is the same length as the Six cylinder. It's only 22 inches wide at the exhaust manifold, 26 inches high ( including either the carb manifold or the FI manifold ) and 26 inches tall
plus it's 30 pounds lighter than the 6 cylinder used
In case you think it's never going to fit, I've got plans to make a A MGTD and use a Jaguar V12 and suspension
What transmission would you use with the N52? Factory BMW setup? How wide is the tunnel back where the bellhousing would be located?
Oh, just go ahead and put an LS into it.
There used to be a Spridget with Chevy Small block that ran in South Florida SCCA (ASR) and ACALAM races.
You couldn't tell from the outside.
Oh Mr Frenchy- awesome idea but I'm not *that* crazy. I picked this up yesterday for a really good price.
I'd have gone bmw n52 whatever they hung from the back of it. A little bit of a long shot and really- with some work I could have gotten it in but the electronics and certain peculiarities of that engine scared me off. The mzr/duratec is light and sorted. And will be a big enough pain in the ass to make work.
