The right pop-up motor on my '91 Miata has developed a fault. When I turn the headlights on or off, the motor on the right side runs the headlight up and down several times before finally staying in the up or down position. It does the same thing when I use the switch on the dashboard to raise or lower them. The left side works fine.

I am guessing there is contact switch in the that stops it in the up or down position that is worn out or dirty. Is there a strait forward fix or should I be shopping for replacement headlight motor?

Never had a problem with one, they're reliable little suckers. Which tells me they're probably cheap at salvage yards.

If you want to dig into it, I'll bet you can find something fairly obvious.

Mine miata has done the same thing from time to time, a few times after hitting a large bump.

I think I'll call the salvage yards then. I am guessing it is about as much fun to take apart and reassemble as the the electric window motor I had to get into to replace a window regulator after the cable snapped.
