Nashville, Tail of the Dragon, and Atlanta GRMers, I'll be passing by next week. Let's hang out.

I'm driving this Miata down to Florida, and this is my planned route:

If the car agrees, I'll be spending the night in Nashville the 23rd, doing a careful-this-is-not-my-car lap of the Dragon, and then Atlanta the 24th. Let's meet for beers and can I crash on your couch? I'm getting a burger from The Vortex for sure in ATL.

After two weeks in Omaha, I can wee why driving to Daytona Beach is attractive.

Chock full of NUTS, I thought the place was the VARSITY for bugers but I stay Out of Downtown, It's next to Georgia Tech. that said Lot's of GRM'ers in the Area.

I will ask about Vortex though

Yes!!! I do hope that a post pops up in Trips and Adventures. I want to "ride along" on the journey. The car belonged to friends of ours, and Osterkraut was generous enough to go revive it and make sure it was ok. The title has changed hands, the plate is in the mail on the way to Omaha and the adventure is almost ready to begin. This is going to be the unconventional "Drive-n-fly" car adventure.

I love this group and the things we do.

Go to the Varsity if you want to be a typical tourist and need to have your innards re-greased. Go to the Vortex if you want a good burger.

The Varsity just is not good in any way. Avoid at all costs. Get a burger at the Vortex, Yeah! Burger, Farm Burger in Decatur, or Cypress Stress Pint n Plate, which is very close to the Varsity and easy to get to. Many other good options too, anything but Varsity.

Man! You're coming through the 1 week I'm away. The vortex has some funky burgers but it's good, although parking might be tricky. The varsity is very very greasy, but not terrible in my opinion. Everyone will ask you if you've been there when you talk about Atlanta.

I'm up for showing another GRMer to the gloriousness that is Nashville Hot Chicken. Just let me know how spicy you like your food, angrycorvair ended up with a little more heat than he needed on his.

I wouldn't agree with that 100%: The Varsity is good as a historical representation of a 1950s drive in with period correct food. That is not to say it is particularly good food. There's a reason McDonald's and Burger King uprooted a lot of those places. The Varsity could be thought of as a time capsule or a competent local fast food place. But if you're looking for a place that has great burgers instead of cheap ones, you'll want to look elsewhere.

I'll have to check my schedule to see if I could do a meet up at the Vortex that day. I haven't been there in a while.
