Ok, so I have an annoying "clank" under the car.
Anything that could rattle is tied down, welded, or removed.
So....
Can the cat on one of these cars have something loose on the inside while functioning perfectly normally?
I know nothing about cat construction.
I'm at wits end.
Help.
Unlikely. That would mean the supporting material had failed, which would be odd to be on its own- unless you have been beating on it regularly.
Have you looked into any mounts that have started to sag? It's been long enough for that by now.
Mounts are all pretty stout, I've replaced in the last couple years.
It's a tinny metallic sound, and only on the sharpest bumps.
Ugh.
Well, I'll keep looking.
Appreciate it.
Check your header heat shield for rusted attachment bolts. That's another possibility.
