A friend of mine bought a nice shiny new Miata ND and wants to find a proper spare tire to throw in the trunk. So far, he hasn't found anything in a 16" size and claims the usual 15" suspects don't fit over his front brakes. Does anyone know of a vehicle that has a 4x100 16" spare? We could go junkyarding if need be. Thanks.
he can go 15 inch and if he blows a front, move a rear rim forwards and put the spare on the aft axle
NB miata? I think the sport brakes had 16" wheels. Don't know if the backspacing will match the ND though.

Toyota Prius C T125/70D16 OEM
03-06 Scion xB uses the same rim and tire.
But I think the center bore may be smaller on Toyota than Mazda.
In reply to EvanR:
Center bores are the same for early Miatas and the Scion. My wife has a Scion xB and I've had NB wheels on it. I'll have to get my buddy to drop by and try her spare on his car. Thanks.

So you mean to say the answer was in your garage this whole time, but you had to ask here? This amuses me!
I ran MINI wheels on my xB. IIRC, the MINI center bore is 56.1mm and the Scion is 54.1. I believe NA/NB center bore is also 56.1. You can put wheels with a 56.1 center bore on a hub with 54.1mm diameter, but not the other way around.
However, if the center bore on the Scion wheel is 2mm too small, you could fix that in about 20 minutes with a hand file, or 20 seconds with a die grinder. It really doesn't have to be perfect for a spare tire.
where exactly does one store such a spare and actually have space for other things?
In reply to EvanR:
Yes, the answer was in the garage. In my defense, the xB has 15" wheels and it didn't occur to me that the spare would be larger and big enough to work on the ND. NA/NB center bores are 54.1 and I'll have my friend check to see if an ND is 54, or something larger.
In reply to Stefan:
No idea, but I assume it will go in the trunk and take up space. The car is his DD and he rarely goes on extended trips with it. They use his wife's Subaru for that stuff, so the loss of luggage space in the Miata probably doesn't bother him.
I suppose he could put it behind the passenger seat, but that would cause the seat to sit forward quite a bit. Not my problem, he asked me what spare would fit.
