Hey guys, I'm located in Colchester, CT and need a recommendation for a body shop. It's best if it's somewhere in the Manchester/Norwich/New London area but I'd take any advice or recommendations.
I was driving home and a guy in an Explorer lost control behind me and crushed the left rear corner of my bright red 08 Speed3. I REALLY want the car fixed perfectly. Car has 70K, but is perfect...not even a single door ding and the car has never seen any type of automatic car wash ever....hand wash only. So I want to find a place that will do a good job (right replacement parts, good match, no orange peel, etc). I don't have any experience with this stuff but as I understand it I have the right to choose the body shop.
Classic Automotive on Rt.66 in East Hampton does great body work. Mark is the guy you want to talk to in the collision department...

I've heard good things about t and j's in east Hartford. I had a not so awesome repair at Glastonbury auto body
Thanks for the advice so far guys! All recommendations (both good and bad) are appreciated; I've never dealt with this before.
Would there be any advantage to using a Mazda dealer for the repairs?

That's a long way from Colchester.

If it's in CT it's close enough for me...A couple of long trips will be much less annoying than fighting with a shop to get the repairs right. Keep the recommendations coming! Any input is appreciated.
In that case, two big thumbs up for Alplex in Watertown. They're behind Valenti Motors on Straits Turnpike (Route 63).
Joseph's Auto Body, Cromwell. I had a similar 'creampuff' I wanted done right and these guys understood.
Or you could have Wayne Carini fix it (Continental Auto Body, Portland)
But Joseph's is where I'd go.

There website is the most impressive that I have seen in my body shop search; not sure if I should put much (any) stock in that but I'll definitely be giving them a call.
I've had three cars done at Alplex and thought they were fantastic. I've also seen their restoration work and Harley tanks that they've done. It's all been very impressive and they've been there for a long time.
It's probably pretty common now, but Alplex was the first place to suggest that the insurance adjuster come there and talk directly with the manager. That way, the pros can be sure that the insurance company understands the extent of the damage, including stuff that may not be immediately obvious on the surface. You're less likely to get shortchanged that way.
