The wife's Avalanche needs front brakes badly. I am already going to upgrade from the stock 04 rotors and calipers to the much larger 07-up versions, 12 inch rotor to 13 inch. So given all this, I need a decent brake pad, IE- I'm not buying the bottom barrel pads like I normally do. I'd like a low dust, not Silvers from Advance kind of dust, fairly good all around performance, decent longetivity, and not a ceramic pad.
So what are my options?
I guess I should have said, I was looking at the EBC Yellow's for a SUV.
EBC yellowstuff are not low dust. I get more dust with them versus the factory pads. I also don't know if I'd want them on a DD type of vehicle. That first stop takes a bit more pressure. They are very good at not fading on you at extreme temps. For example, my Esprit with the factory (Toyota) pads gave me about 3 stops from 100 MPH. The 4th try yielded ZERO stopping force. Talk about fade. With the EBC yellowstuff, I have never had any fade, including 2 track days with runs at Hallett hitting 100 before The Bitch. Is that what you want to accomplish and are you willing to put up with more dust and less braking when starting out in the morning?
I'd say if you're looking at EBC, to not look at the Yellows or Greens if you're wanting to avoid dust. I wouldn't put yellows on a wife's DD for the reason Hess just pointed out.
I think they have Blue or something that might specifically be for the sort of thing you're looking for?

My rig is a Ford, so the Super Duty Motorcraft pads that I just put on won't help you, but they are a much better pad than the "regular duty"(?) pad that the factory put on. Same level of noise, dust isn't too bad, but much less fade.
I had a lot of luck with the Wagner Thermo Quiet pads on my last van (also a Ford). It didn't seem too dusty, and it beat the snot out of the Wearever and Duralast "top of the line" pads. I think the Wearever lasted for about 8 months and the Duralast got me about 6?
While I've not tried them personally, I have heard a lot of good things about the EBC yellows in terms of reducing fade and having greater stopping power. I've never talked to anyone who used them that cared about brake dust levels, though. I was going to get those instead of the Super Duty ones for my rig, but either their website's fitment guide is broken or they don't make pads for an 06 E150.

Hawk LTs are doing well on Mrs. Oldtin's 4runner. Significant improvement over stock and fairly low on dusting.
I had EBCYellows on my Miata. Lotta dust.
I put Hawk LTs on my Tacoma with new Brembo rotors. They're quiet and low dust with no fade, but 16k miles later, I'm about to turn the rotors because the chatter is unbearable.

I ran a fade test on a late-'90s suburban with Wagner TQ pads. if fade is a concern to you, do not use these pads. by the fifth stop the fronts were not contributing to decel at all, and they caught fire on the sixth stop. beavis and butt-head would think that's awesome, but as the driver of the suburban with flaming zero-decel pads, you may not.
I put Akebono ceramic pads on my F-150. So far not much noise or brake dust.
I like Porterfeld performance street/autocross for my DD cars including the Ranchero ZAV.
These are low dust and low squeal.
Steve
If I have to give up something I can live with the dust, just as long as it doesn't turn wheels black like cheapies do.
Oh and almost any brand is ok. I just put that up there as one I was looking at purchasing.

I'd like to hear more about the test. I've been using and recommending them for a while now without trouble.

green pads (fresh out of the box, no burnishing), vehicle with 4 people inside, 0-60 at WOT, then stomp the pedal (our truck had ABS). as soon as the vehicle comes to rest, do it again. The procedure is supposed to be 10 stops, monitoring lining temps with embedded thermocouples.
I installed a SSBC pad/rotor kit on my 99 GMC Z71 1500 a few months ago. They are OK, but I expected better.
I used Hawk Pads on a couple of other cars with Summit Rotors and was happier with the results.
But I do not know what kind of brakes were on the GMC prior, so probably not a fair comparison
In reply to Dr. Hess:
I want a fade free pad. Wife travels highway to work, but at the end has to so a lot of 35-45mph city with quite a few stop lights. Trip home is the opposite.

Hawk LTS on our Sierra. Love them.

Maybe the OE pads will be just fine with the larger brakes?
But......encountering fade in stop-and-go city driving?
