Yea, so I'm gonna try to get the cleanest (whos past owner doesn't suck) v6 accord, maxima, or inifiti manual I can find for $1.5k.

That leaves a G20 I think. Your other options I haven't seen that cheap in any sort of decent shape.
My wife had a G20t with a 5 speed. Fun and comfy, sold it dirt cheap and to my knowledge it still runs. It will probably keep running long after the body finally rusts in half (it was terminal when we got rid of it).
Where do you live? Here is a g20t for 1050, runs and drives. http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/cto/5599962826.html
I can bump it up to 2.5-3k realistically. Just as long as I can sell it for 2kish come December/jan2017. Will that open my options?
For what it is worth. . I bought a manual Volvo 850 for a grand a couple of years ago. Fantastic highway muncher and decently fun with the 5 speed.

Pretty torquey. Iirc the 99 v6 manual altima is a hell of a sleeper, id imagine the maxima to be in a similar boat
Edit: as for volvo costs. As long as they arent new and have the standard new car parts prices volvo stuff is pretty dang cheap, like old gm cheap. Basic rule of thumb for me, if you can find a dozen in a junk yard, parts are cheap.
The Altima till '01 is an interesting car. Similar in size to an Accord from the '90s. Torquey 2.4L 4cyl shared with the Nissan 240sx. Manual trans, fwd available.
Chain, not timing belt.
Big engine for its size results in mediocre mpg.
In '02 the Altima became the same chassis as the Maxima.
At the time, Nissan's Sentra was smaller than Honda's Civic.
Altima was bigger than Civic but smaller than Accord which was growing in size.
Maxima was larger than Accord but the Accord was growing to catch up.

Color me wrong! Should snap this one up. It comes with a 3 month powertrain warranty. That's half your projected ownership period covered right there. These things are fun comfy sleepers. Love that VQ!
I would steer clear of the stratus. The people that would buy one want automatic. So when it comes time to sell you might be stuck with it for a while.
OK.I'm gonna checkout that manual maxima today then. I walk by a black one almost daily and always thought it looked good.
How do I check if timing belt been done? I know volvos get a sticker if so.
Bah maxima was a bust. Ac broke and suspension needed some lovin.
I did like it though. I can find cleaner. That engine was fun.
aaand what about a '94 4runner? I live in raleigh here and theres tons of outside stuff to do, would get a lot of use out of the extra space.
I feel like at this point your best option is the devil you know. For the $3k that you're willing to buy a car, could you not get the 700R4 put into your Blazer and have it at least drivable?

hmm it would be a gamble as im still unsure if the lt1 is strong or on its last breath. its leaking oil from the rear of the engine.
