2006 Crown Vic P71.
Symptoms. Occasionally shuts off while driving. Occasionally returns to idle and the throttle pedal does nothing.
Codes. P2017, P2110
I have checked all the plugs to the throttle body. I have checked the range for the throttle pedal with my scanner. I have shaken and moved all the wiring harness with no effect. It is not a consistent problem and is not repeatable at will. Sometimes it's at cruise, sometimes at parking lot speeds.
What else do I need to check.
The P2017 code is showing that the "Runner Valve" is messing up. A part on the Intake Manifold that control the amount of air gping into the engine.
The P2110 Code is the ThrottlectcAcActatorControl Sensor acting up.
I never had this happen before but I would clean the "Runner Valve" and the TAC sensor with Maf cleaner first and see if it fixes it. Also, are you running a K&N Air Filter?
No to the K&N.
After the first post, it threw a cylinder 3 missfire so we went ahead and swapped the coil for one I had on the shelf. Another test drive and it ran like normal. My son is taking it to work in the morning so we'll see if it shuts down again and see if it throws another code.
have you checked the intake manifold for the very common ford 4.6 cracked plastic intake near the back.

I have not, but when it's running, it runs very well. I would have thought a intake failure would be noticeable at all times.
from what chada posted The P2017 code is showing that the "Runner Valve" is messing up. A part on the Intake Manifold that control the amount of air gping into the engine.
I mean it at least something to check since the intake manifold cracking is a guaranteed issue on the 4.6.
The only issue I know of a cracking Intake Manifold was from the Thermostat part being made of plastic. But the Intake could still crack from overheating. Did you run E85 in the car recently?

Curious about this comment. I have one for my P71 that I haven't gotten around to installing yet, is there a reason to or not to?
In reply to CLynn85 :
Don't over oil it. It will get oil on the mass air sensor. That can be bad.
