Anybody got a Fox body mustang laying around?  I need a measurement of the width of a rear sway bar.  The type that just mount to the lower control arms and snake their way around the back of the center section of the 8.8 diff.  I just put an 8.8 in one of my Triumph TR8s and then made custom adjustable lower control arms, and added a finned Ford racing cover.  Now the TR8 bar will hit the rear cover unless I do some more welding and fabricating to mount it under and farther back on the control arms.  I'm hoping the Mustang sway bars are in the same ballpark as the TR8 bars.  Anything 36 to 38 inches wide would work.  Next option is making up one of those straight tubular ones cut to length with welded on arms going forward to the control arms.  Again, lots more fabrication.

Are SN95 bars the same width?

Don't know.  But if they also have a bar that strictly mounts to the lower control arms and is a one piece bend round steel looking thing, I'll take that measurement as well.  If you search images of Mustang bars, you get all kinds of crazy looking things.  I just need to go from control arm mounted with two bolts, around the back of the cover to the other control arm again mounted with two bolts.

Literally came in to ask the same thing.

From what I've seen of my friend's '91 LX and my '97 GT 'vert. They're probably pretty close. I'll measure and try to get pics of mine when I get home. Assuming Javelin doesn't beat me with measurements from his Cobra.

Volvo 240 works this way also. Several diameters available. I can't get to one of mine to measure todaysad

Come on guys.  None of you got a Mustang, a tape measure and five minutes to spare for a fellow GRMer.

Oh my bad. I'll go down and get something for you as soon as I get done on the throne here.

Edit: now this is a '97 SN95 like mentioned earlier. But alot of mustang stuff is 79-04.

Measured at the forward bolt on the trailing arms is right at 36" and the rear bolts are like 37.5".

Pardon my wimpy stock bar and janky axle dumps.

So those flat sections that bolt to the arms are not parallel with each other???  On the TR, they bolt to the inside flat section of the arms and the arms are dead straight and point straight ahead.  The Mustang bars look like they would work even if they are not parallel at the mounts.  I could stick a spacer with a longer bolt to take up the slack on the front bolts.  This is good to know because there are so many different diameter bars available for the Stang.  With so many people installing 8.8s in other cars, a table full of various sway bars would come in real handy.  Now I need to see if I can find a Mustang bar around here.

The lower control arms are angled in slightly. Part of that quadrabind magic I suppose.
