What's a good dual purpose pad I can get my hands on quickly? I've got some nearly new duralast pads in the rear, looking to replace the worn fronts and have a light PDX coming up at Homestead next weekend. Won't be driving 10/10ths maybe 7-8/10ths. *inexpensive is good too. Thanks!

I'd like to order a set tomorrow, so I'm going to keep this on page 1.

Why do you want dual purpose? Do you daily the car?

If its not a daily driver, just see if you can get some Carbotech XP10/XP8 (fr/rr) and call it a day. You can get to and from the track with them with no problems.

You will get a lot of good suggestions on this topic! My choice is Hawk HP Plus. They are available to order from Advance Auto Parts online. For your application the front pads are about $100. There are plenty of coupon codes available at the usual places that will probably get you another 25 to 30% off that.

And if those are anything like the AX6s I'm running in terms of street manners, they'd be ok to DD on as well, provided you don't care about the wheels turning dark grey as soon as you look at the brake pedal and can live with some occasional squealing / screeching.

They won't be at full grip when cold on the street, but unless it's stupidly cold outside, they should still have plenty of bite to be safely driveable.

You just described them perfectly. They squeal, but in Florida they work OK even when the car had been sitting overnight.

The worst part is the dust.

I don't daily the car, but it's most common uses are autocross, rallycross and beach cruises, where the brakes don't have a chance to build heat like on track.

The Hawk Hp plus sound like exactly what I'm looking for!

I just wanted to follow up here with a review. The Hawk hp+ performed flawlessly for (4) 20 minutes sessions at Homestead-Miami. I used them in conjunction with motul 600 fluid and the brake system gave me everything I needed. Not bad for an $80 set of pads!

I am glad to hear that they worked well for you. So many good choices, but hard to beat the Hawks at that price.

Yup, I've had HP+ on my NA for 2 events plus a 1000 or so street miles on the miata.

They dust like crazy but have held up well 8 sessions at Dominion and 7 at VIR.

You'll need to log in to post.
