Sorry not me, for a friend and you guys and girls are the people I trust.

I have a lady work friend, that is in dire straights...

She needs tires for her 07 Fushion and they want to soak her about $800 bucks... from Tires Plus... I imagine they want to put the OEM back on the car but all of us know that is... OEM.... gross!

Area: Minneapolis.... Driver: Pretty girl that puts gas in and goes to work and does a great job. Occupation: Artist!!

So the tire should sacrifice some wear for snow traction but not able to afford dedicated snow tires just yet. So looking for all season tires in the 225 50 17 .

I have looked on the tire rack (thank you!) and really cant justify 800 bucks for some mounted tires... or am I off? I was thinking about 650 to 700 out the door?

Falken ZX-912 for ~$100 each with around $80 in mounting and balancing.

Probably wouldn't be fantastic in the snow but I don't see anything else around that price range being better. Maybe the Conti ExtremeContact for $130 ea. or GY Eagle for $131 ea. since they look like they have a bit more tread.

Wow, can not believe they cost that much! That's insane.

I've had the BFGoodrich G-force super sport A/S on my BMW and it rocked in the snow. I mean rocked!

I'm sure she could go with a 225/45/17 and these are also awesome in the snow (had them before the BF's) and they're only $82 a tire.

Yeah like I said seemed high... hmm, with an alignment that price works but those radials had better be gold plated and studded and azenies at the same time:)

If those Contis are the DWS, they do quite well in the snow, rain, and summer. Seem to have very good wear too.

I put Kelly Navigator Golds on Both my vehicles (2005 Chrysler T&C and 96 Olds Aurora). 70,000 mile rated tire

Sticks well, excellent snow traction and was $425 out the door.

Granted these are 16" wheels, but you should be pretty cheap.

$800 is being bent over the counter

Can you or I do it for less than $800 - yes, conceded. Would we? Probably. But it sounds reasonable to me from a reputable shop.

Market price for an alignment and 4 mount/balance is close to $200, leaving you $150 per tire including shipping if you order from TR. Then there is probably tax added to some portion or all of the whole shebang. A lady with a point-and-shoot car might not want to do all the research and legwork to find the best deal or best tire. A lot of people care only that it is done by 3:00, you don't rip them off, you have a clean waiting room or are next to their favorite chinese restaurant.

However if some gallant young man were to step up and volunteer....

I priced tires for my RR which are 18s at 255 width and they were $200 @ fitted from a reputable dealer, it sounds high to me

Sounds high here too - that is more than I pay out the door for brand name 10 ply 17" AT tires for my truck. I put decent 16" performance shoes on the wife's 325XiT for about $625 last spring.

I paid $40 for my last alignment at a chain store here in the midwest. that $425 I mentioned was Tires, Mount, balance, and alignment.

just did a quick quote in my system. for a set of BFG Traction T/As installed would be $614.28 Tax and all out the door. Alignment not included.

Hmmm. Hard to decide without pictures of the girl.

Tires Plus has a horrible reputation for bait and switch and adding all kinds of "extras" and fees not discussed or mentioned until "here's the bill" here in Ct.

Why would you do an alignment on an 07 car?

I have a set of Tires Plus house brand mud and snow tires on my 325ix (I don't recall the exact brand name, it's whatever brand it is they sell there.) They've been very good winter tires and seem to wear well in all around use. I'm in Minneapolis myself, and I went to the Tires Plus store on Lake St. in Uptown; I can't say I was impressed by their service (at first they tried putting a 16" tire on my 15" wheels, and wondered why they didn't fit ) but in the end I can't complain about the tires themselves. Also, I've been back a couple times for nail repairs that were covered under the warrantee without any issues.
