GPS above has it right. You are in a hotbed for the BMW community. Both NJ and DelVal have great chapters and run numerous events in the area. The $45 bucks on a CCA membership is well worth it. Start autocrossing in the spring and do a track day at NJMP before the end of the year.

Also, dont necessarily dismiss E30's. Once you get it sorted it offers the lowest running costs of pretty much any BMW, and there are always tons of them at the local CCA events. I drive one myself. Youre also close to Guten Parts and Service in South Orange, which is probably the premier E30 support garage in the country. They service and support a few Spec E30 cars, and can get pretty much any e30 part you could want.
