Can someone please recommend a decent all around tire? It has to be a 245(or 255)/60/15. I will be participating in a few different events. Hopefully an autocross, a track day, and maybe a road rally. The car will be driven to these events. Unfortunately I am on a budget, I would like to keep it under $500 for 4 tires (not including shipping if needed). Also, I'm not all that concerned with tread wear and top speed ratings. These will be my first performance driving events and I'm sure I will be moving slow enough for it not to matter. I have searched the web and the obvious places and cant find anything other than BGF radial T/A.

Thanks Zack

$500 total or for each tyre?

I would start with Tirerack.com

Also depends very much on your location - in some places (like out here at the edge of the desert) you can get away with running stuff like RA-1s or R888s in the summer, thanks to the absence of rain.

If you're somewhere with more rain you'll need tires that are better in the wet...

I'm a bit confused, you start off asking for an all around tire, and then seem to be asking for a track tire. Is this car going to be a daily driver, a dedicated autocrosser, never see the rain?

The car will be dedicated track/autocrosser. I will need to drive it to these events. Also, I am considering participation in the Press On Regardless Rally. It will not be a daily driver or even a weekend driver for that matter.

I ordered a set of cragar soft 8 rims today so I can get into the 17" tires. There are endless tire options in that size so I can find what I need. I know the wheels will be very heavy but this is 79 firebird we're talking about. Weight isnt much of a concern. Besides I cant afford the wheels I want at the moment. So these will have to hold me over for the next 2 seasons.
